Higgs Boson IS Midi-Chlorian

No, seriously. When I first started reading about the Higgs boson after its probable discovery, I was led to the related idea of the Higgs Field, which sounds exactly like The Force from Star Wars. I’m not linking to Star Wars because if you don’t know what that is I don’t want you reading my article.

Lightsabers. It’s all about lightsabers.

The opening line of explanation for the Higgs Field is, “The Higgs field is a possibly discovered, ubiquitous quantum field supposedly responsible for giving elementary particles their masses.” For those of us with an unpretentious (not snobby) vocabulary, ubiquitous means “omnipresent.”

Hmmm, an all-present field that is responsible for the existence of matter and life? That binds the universe? Sounds like the Force to me. That would make the Higgs boson like a midi-chlorian, except I don’t recognize the validity of movies that rely on a leading man who has the acting ability of Keanu Reeves without the “is he stoned/sedated ALL the time?” charm.
