King James was a much bigger publishing operation so it was circulated the most. Bit if you follow academic guidelines for historical document then NIV was translated the closest to the death of Christ. They really don't differ enough to be salvation endangering. But for codes, I think you just need to find a program that can pull it from the original unless you read Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Certain things, they should stay the way they are. You ought to be able to stick them in one of those big glass cases and just leave them alone. |

My process is to read the ESV, which is a fantastic modern translation. I then cross reference with the KJV so I can dig into the original languages using the Strong's Exhaustive Concordance and the Vine's Complete Expository Dictionary. I also study the Septuagint. But, I am a bit of a nerd when it comes to the Bible. |

Get a total of three. 1) Get a Kings James AND a Strong's Concordance. This way you can easily see the original Hebrew and Greek words. And see it's true and original meanings. 2) Each Hebrew and Greek word often has a fuller meaning, that's not accurately translated by a single word. So also get an Amplified Bible. This Bible, gives the fuller meaning of each word. |

Also keep it simple, when reading the Bible, remember the Three C's 1) Context When reading a sentence or verse, read the surrounding verses to better understand the meaning. 2) Cross reference. When reading a single verse, find other places where this same verse is spoken in another book in the Bible. This can help to clarify the verse. 3) Consistency Did Jesus say for example say something in a verse that you're not certain about? Does Jesus' teachings or messages reiterates this point in other verses? In other words, is there a consistent message that you're seeing in multiple places? This will help you to understand, what's most important. And remember Jesus' message is quite simple, which is summed up in his "two greatest commands", love God and love and help others. |

I agree the question wasn't the best foundation for what they are seeking but it is still clear enough to understand what they are looking to accomplish. |

You hit the nail on the head with "context." DO NOT EVER cherry pick verses of Scripture. This is how cults are formed and man bends God's Word to fit their loaded motivations. |

The Hebrew translation is used for the codes usually but that is done with a computer program. The King James Version is the best for english translation. Get the New King James Version if you want modern english. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you while you read or you won't get it really. The Hebrew isn't a translation. It is what the translation is made from. And using Biblecode software is not the best use of your time anyway. It doesn't really tell you what you want or need to know... |

Probably the Ethiopian bible. I read a king James myself though with a standalone copy of Enoch. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74373538 I definitely suggest every student of Scripture have a copy of Enoch. Gad the Seer is also a really amazing lost book. Gad had prophecies of Islam and the Rapture around the time of King David. He was a personal prophet for King David. |

Lol how can you be so sure that there is a heaven in the first place if you never read the original? I tell you what, ask the holy spirit to teach you hebrew and greek, let's see how that works out. |

I am sorry but what do you find funny about my comment? I study the original languages, multiple translations, lost books, writings of the early church fathers etc. I feel that I am quite qualified to speak on the subject of Biblical topics. Also, it is Holy Spirit*. |

Go where you are led. When you run into people laying down laws for you know that it is called legalism and dogma. Run for your life.
