It's certainly warranted. If this guy is in Trump's pocket a lot of deals could be struck behind the scenes too. One thing this definitely does for Trump is clear an easy path for whoever he chooses for FBI director. The Democrats were positioning to obstruct the nuts off his pick based off the fact he couldn't be trusted to investigate this matter, no matter who he picked. Now that argument is gone.
