Beijing claims landmark success in mining flammable ice
Fracking meet your new rival.

[link to www.dailymail.co.uk]

China has successfully mined flammable ice at sea after nearly two decades of research work.

The flammable ice was discovered in the South China Sea in 2007.

According to Chinese state run Xinhua, one cubic metre of combustible ice is equal to 164 cubic metres of natural regular gas.

...

Fucking fire ice.

These are methane clathrates, not "flammable ice". Why do people feel the need to dumb things down? And this is dangerous: if a mass of clathrates was destabilized by such mining, it could inject gigatonnes of methane into the atmosphere. Methane is a far more powerful greenhouse gas than CO2, although it's not as long-lived. And if you burn it, it still yields CO2. We need nuclear fusion urgently.

How can you possibly think this is a game changer or the fuel of the future though.

It's not even renewable. Here are a few things that will make you realize the real future of energy.

Mini Reactors Could Make Affordable Fusion Power a Reality by 2030

[link to futurism.com (secure)]

The small, spherical Tokamak ST40 reactor is on track to reach its next goal of hitting the 15,000,000 °C (27,000,000 °F) mark this autumn.
When it does, we will be one step closer to achieving fusion power on a commercial scale.
YEARS, NOT DECADES”

Earlier this month the newest fusion reactor in the U.K., Tokamak Energy’s ST40, achieved first plasma. This milestone event on the road to fusion energy signals the viability of the company’s overall timetable.

New “Breakthrough Work” Finally Lets Us Trigger Artificial Photosynthesis

A New Device Could Utterly Transform How We Produce Energy

Scientists have developed a new device that's capable of harnessing energy from infrared wavelengths and heat. This device, which also functions as an IR emitter, could change the future of energy production.

The tiny thermophotovoltaic device — an 8 × 8 array of individually controllable pixels, each measuring 120 × 120 microns — uses a man-made material with special properties, called “metamaterial,” to very efficiently absorb and emit IR wavelengths. The researchers also designed the device so that it could be reconfigured on a pixel-by-pixel basis.

It is cool but could be dangerous. There is the potential to destabilize the entire deposit which would then disintegrate and rapidly release all the methane resulting in tsunamis, rapid climate change, etc.

Research the clathrate gun hypothesis.

Re: Beijing claims landmark success in mining flammable ice
China of all countries knows about pollution and air pollution, they are leading the world in reducing coal and fossil fuel dependence and switching to clean energy. But it seems they don't believe in man made climate change and they certainly don't seem to care about the planet, just their own back yard. So i wouldn't put it past them going on some crazy fossil fuel burning venture like this mining flammable ice.. But if they see a cheaper alternative like wind or solar tech, they will have no qualm with using that instead.. Thats the way i see it.

Elon Musk Just Gave Us a Glimpse of His Latest Tool in the Fight Against Fossil Fuels

Elon Musk appeared at the latest TED conference last week to discuss his multitudinous ventures. Not only did he unveil the first look at Tesla's all-electric semi-trucks, he also announced plans to build four more Gigafactories.

New “Breakthrough Work” Finally Lets Us Trigger Artificial Photosynthesis

We have a new way of creating solar fuel.

And there are many more breakthroughs in these techs that ive not shown here.

Anything that is based on a fossil fuel like this flammable ice, is going to be obsolete in about 10 years.

Some dumbbell imported hardwood from EUROPE

ANYWAY, just had to cut down a giant ash tree

enough wood for about three years of firewood.

Burning wood helps our other trees who use the
carbon dioxide and exhale oxygen which WE need
to breathe!

What a GREAT SYSTEM GOD CREATED!

Yea we used to burn wood for fuel in the UK many hundreds of years ago, until we ran out of forest. And that was with a tiny fraction of the population we have today and no chainsaws.

Yea great system.

Here we see the forests as a renewable resource,

Elon Musk: Tesla’s Solar Roofs Will Be Cheaper Than Regular Roofs & Have “Infinity Warranty”

Worried about cost? The tiles are guaranteed literally forever.
As we previously reported, studies by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and others suggest that 25 percent of the United States’ energy needs could be filled by rooftop solar installations alone.

In 10 Years, Wind Energy May Be Cheaper Than Fossil Fuels

As more and more Fortune 500 companies have embraced renewables, the U.S. has more than doubled the amount of electricity produced with wind energy since 2010.
