Re: I got tricked into spending $99 a year for Amazon Prime:(
You idiots don't know how to use PRIME. And BTW: it IS usually 2 days shipping, with deliveries on Sunday included free. In many cases I've gotten OVERNIGHT delivery at extra charge!

Beyond that, there tens of thousands of movies/TV shows you can also watch free. And if you want music? Well....

All it takes is a couple of orders for heavy items [where shipping alone would normally be $40-50] for PRIME to pay for itself.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8080014

Prime is a fukin bargain for what u get....these low income idiots will complain about anything. It's one thing ive noticed about poor people they often confuse their own stupidity with someone taking advantage of them.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74530628

Um, I am a very low income poor person, so your premise is unsubstantiated. I know plenty of people who have more money than they know what to do with, who don't care to read fine print because instructions and all that takes up to much of their precious time. Some of them are high IQ people with little common sense.

If you think they are not prone to FRANTIC complaining for things they got themselves into in the first place, you just might have limited experience understanding human nature.

Living hand to mouth has taught me HOW to get the most bang for my buck. For me it's all about compromise, mixed in with due-diligence research and ingenuity.

Just because someone is poor doesn't mean they can't think for themselves.
 Quoting: esoteric Morgan

The reason you are poor is because you believe you are and even go as far to declare that you are poor on a public forum. As long as you hold this belief you will remain poor.

"Your payment option will change to annual, and at the end of the free trial, you will be charged $99 for a year of Prime."
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 46086820

Then you see the charge and call them to cancel. they say they cancel but 1 year later another $106 charge.

What a dirty company Amazon is for ticking me to spend $99 a year. I'm not spending $10.99 a month just to get 2 day shipping. What a bunch of jerks. I know they didn't say up front that I would be charged that much. They tricked me, those assholes! angry

i agree, prime is a scam....2 day shipping is bullshit...always 4-5 days regardless.

guess the movie library is ok
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 47200636

Prime is great. I use it ALL the time. And it is NEVER 4-5 days shipping. I receive things every single time in 2 days. Several items available for 1 day or same day shipping, either for free or a small charge.

I use the movie library all the time as well as music and cloud storage. Plus I pay the additional $200/year to get Prime Fresh and have my groceries delivered. Most items available next day or same day - special items like Scottish Salmon usually take 2 days, but it's definitely worth it.

I don't watch movie/tv shows or order heavy items. The heaviest item I bought was about 3lbs.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 62753985

Were you charged the 99 bucks already? Has a month gone by?

What you do is get prime, then cancel it a day or two before they will charge for the year, they give you the first 30 days free.

Then wait a month, and they will allow you to pay monthly at 10.99+ tax for the membership. If you want to go that way.
 Quoting: M*walk

No es verdad amigo.
You can cancel within the first 3 days. After that you can still cancel, BUT you have to pay for any benefits you received through Prime Membership. So if you watched a flik, listened to music, or got free shipping you will be billed for it. Even the difference in price of sale items will be charged to you. Prime is FOREVER. hahahahaha

It's the Costco scam.
You never make back the money in savings unless you do all your shopping there.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 54771142

Year after year, I get more back on my rebate check than the Executive membership costs. If one just buy thier milk, eggs, butter and coffee from Costco, the savings on those items more than covers a membership.

Also the prices provided for car rentals through Costco are unbeatable.

BTW...used Costco to purchase 3 cars, OUTSTANDING.
 Quoting: Visitor 73065348

Good for you.
I just buy some occasional purchases, meat, fruit, some fancy food items, clothes.
It doesn't work for me.
And the lineups are too long.

The thing is is you need to sign up, mark your calendar and cancel... IF you can do that, you can sign up for dozens of things that will save and even make you money... Two that come to mind right of the bat, Chase bank. Sign up... have direct deposit... ten days later you have 300 bucks in your account! Wells Fargo... Sign up... Use your card Ten Times... $250 bucks in your account. Thats it... close the account and you just made $550 bucks. I sign up once per year with AMAZON PRIME for the 30 day trial. I cancel a day or two before the 30 days. Buy all the things I have been wanting the last 6 months and then thats it... simple... easy... its called USE A CALENDAR!!! Trust me, it works!

I get my friend to buy shit for me the few times I actually buy from Amazon without free shipping. I don't watch movies or TV, and I can often find the same thing with free shitting on Ebay.

I have AP and it has worked out well for me. I have a Kindle so I can borrow one book a month from the lending library and their video selection has stuff that Netflix doesn't offer. And I have ordered more stuff from then now that I have the free 2 day shipping, but you do have to watch them on prices. I have priced things and then come back and the prices have jumped, so they do manipulate items as times.

Re: I got tricked into spending $99 a year for Amazon Prime:(
Never had a problem with Prime. I pay $99 per year for it. You can add a family member, so my brother splits the cost with me. I have never had anything take longer than 2 days to receive. You have to make sure the item says it is eligible for Prime. Some sellers do not participate in that program. Also as as another person posted about the overnight delivery...you can pay extra for over night shipping last thing I had overnighted it was something ridiculously cheap, like $5. Way way less than what you would pay form over night from somewhere else.

We watch many shows and movies from Prime and that in itself pays for way more than a 12 month membership.

But if you don't like it, cancel it it. ;

Not really, you can buy gift cards for non members, so really anyone can shop there, just ask a friend to buy you a gift card, or split a membership card with friends or roommates. Most single people don't have the storage for bulk items anyway, and the atmosphere of shopping there alone keeps me away. I'll gladly pay a few bucks more for a less stressful, nice retail atmosphere. I'm already a near recluse as far as shopping is concerned, I'll live on decalf and old crackers for 24 hours sometimes rather than deal with a grocery store.
