I would say that someone brought up in a religious family / environment are very likely to return to it with age. Very often the older people get, the more sentimental and reflective they you become, especially those from a loving home.

Show business, especially pop music is just that. Dressing up in Pantomime customs and using pyrotechnics just part of an act as the fantastic light-shows are today.

I doubt he needs the money so bad that he's looking to expand his audience to church goers. Hat off to the guy.

I always thought he was a very articulate and smart guy who understood the showbiz aspect of being a musician.
