Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74923072 Even if they have 30 days, after that it should be smoother sailing. The robo calls generally instantly stop when they update their calling lists a few times a week. "should" If you don't try it then can't help you. I have been through the entire deal. You know what happens when the list is violated? You fill out a report online, then nothing happens. Unless you get a lawyer and document it all you get nothing, and they keep pestering you. Just hang up on them...........They will stop No, it does not. You have to cost them time/money to motivate them to leave you alone. Yep! I had one of those frozen meat companies calling me everyday. I called them and asked to be removed and they said there was no way to do it. So I got their fax number and faxed them black pieces of paper. I had blocked my number but forgot that the fax machine is programmed with my business information and it must've came out on the header of the fax. They called my business and said I was using up their toner and they were going to file harassment charges against me. lol Somehow they never called me again. TOLD User ID: 74820775 United States 05/19/2017 03:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | For live persons I have two ways of dealing with them. They either talk to the pig, a little mini football sized pig I have that grunts when ya squeeze it, or I keep em on the line as long as possible to waste their time and provide for myself a bit of cheap entertainment. You'd be surprised how long some of these people will talk to only the grunting pig. Sometimes I say I'm very interested, hang on a minute, be right back, set the phone down and leave it. Check every fifteen minutes to see if they're still on and if so I'll exchange dialog for fifteen seconds then do the hang on be right back routine again. Some of these callers must get paid by the hour cuz I've had more than few stay with me for over an hour. The pig was a white elephant gift and when I drew it, I recognized it's purpose and comedic value immediately. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 74920536 United States 05/19/2017 03:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I bought a domain name, registered my real phone number (DUMB!), and did not have the contact information as private. Since then, I've been getting TONS of marketing calls - mostly for web design services. HOWEVER, since then I place my number on the federal Do Not Call list - and it has been months since I did that. I STILL get MANY calls per week. Q: Since I put my number in the domain contact information, does that NEGATE the Do Not Call status, and give them permission to call me with business marketing calls? |

No more calls I once spent three hours dialing a fucker's phone number. Now and then he'd pick it up and hang up but I kept calling him back. That one finally gave up calling me. I've done that too. I also like acting crazy...make all sorts of noises and outbursts..then follow up with 'sorry sorry' then describe how you want to suck on the insides of their intestines cause Baal says it's delicious. At that point, they usually hang up. MnB15 |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 38129533 United States 05/19/2017 04:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have caller ID, so when I see a potential telemarketer calling, I answer in my best radio voice: "This is KOBY radio, you're on the air with Fitch and Magraw. FITCH AND MAGRAW! What's your question for our guest today caller?" There is almost always dead silence, so I have to repeat it again. Then they stumble around and say something like "Ahhhhh, this isn't mr. so and so?" I just keep on with the live radio script until they apologize and hang up. If they persist then I try to embarrass them "on the air." Tell them how many thousand people are listening and what the topic is for the show. Make sure the topic as embarrassing as possible. They always hang up. Then I call block the number. That way, if they call me again, they get blocked, think they misdialed the first time and were really on the radio. I actually look forward to telemarketers calling now. |

I got so tired of hearing the phone ring from different area codes several times a day that I unhooked the land-line phone, taking calls from family only from the cell phone, and from those with a need to reach me.
