I hear kittens crying outside near my residence, but I'd have to cut through blackberry to get to them

Momma cat put them there to protect them....she's probably out hunting....

How can you not look out for baby kittens?

I know. But then...what do you do with them? I know I'm not gonna adopt them! And they can't make me...with their cute cries for help!

So I chopped a 20+ foot path through the blackberry, and found....NOTHING! LOL I don't hear the kittens any more, so I'm gonna stop the concern about it. Good!, says Grumpy Cat.

How do you know that the stray kittens don't have a disease that they could pass onto you and your family...

Use gloves when handling them and bring them to a vet for a checkup...

Otherwise, if its very cold outside, the meowing will stop eventually...

Oh - I agree. They would not come into my home. At best, I'd give them to someone who would take care of them. And I agree about the gloves, which I needed to cut blackberry plants anyway. Thanks for the input.

You must be on the west coast where they still have blackberries. I just had someone walk through my property with a gopro last week and the blackberry canes and brambles that used to choke the ditches and hedgerows are all gone. The only thing that seems to be growing at all is the turk's cap hibiscus. The crumbling concrete seems to be good for it.

One of the cats we had as a pet (for over 20 years) was found under a bush crying.

It took two days, but when we got to the kitty (who wobbled as close as she could because she was so weak), there were other dead kittens there.

She still had her umbilical cord and after taking her to the vet (who thought it was best to euthanize her (I refused)), I fed her with an eye dropper, did the poopsie/pee wipe thing, dewormed her (when she got to weight, she was so malnourished--to bones), and then did all the other stuff to get her up and romping around--she survived and became the BEST cat I ever had the pleasure to know.

Kittens don't cry and cry unless they are abandoned. The mama cat stays around to hear, and if there is no mama, the kittens cry out.

Either the mama cat was injured or died, or some jerk tossed newborn kittens out their car (as what happened in my scenario).

Good luck and wear gloves and bring pruners and a warm towel to wrap them up.

I say the advice you given is faithless. Worrying about diseases and stuff. Vets.

Don't listen to fear talk. Just do stuff.

And do NOT sit by until something dies, that you could of saved.

God gave them to you as gift as new pets. LOL.

I'd love to have a bundle of little kittens, I just think they are so awesome when they open their eyes and figure out when they move their arms and legs then can scurry around and get into things.

Dogs are great too.
