Just read on another news soucethis guy breached security at LAX, and oh so smart workers there allowed him to continue and board the plane.

It really depends on WHEN during the flight this occurred. Hijacking a long range flight makes much more sense when it comes to fuel and distance availability. A LAX to Hawaii flight only 1/3 the way in could reach ANYWHERE in the Western US.
