I did it and it worked fine. No problems, and it hasn't asked me to upgrade to Win 10. I used the top choice, but check your system first. [link to www.catalog.update.microsoft.com] If you still want to go with installing them individually, the critical one in the first link is MS17-010. I probably will switch to a another operating system when I get a new laptop. This one is so old, it's on it's last little ones and zeros. Changing now would probably smoke it. Zen, Same here. May not look into another OS, but perhaps a MAC vs. Win. Then again, maybe a new OS. Thanks for one stop shop link. Thanks to all other posters' suggestions. |

It is Microsoft's fault they were not patched. Due to both the forced Windows 10 upgrade shenanigans, and the faulty windows update that didn't work properly for most users (likely another attempt to get people to accept Windows 10). People who use Windows 7 and have an Internet connection don't just get port 139 which is SMB exposed like that. Majority of them are businesses with bad security and people who expose certain ports by accident. Anonymous Coward User ID: 58446361 United States 05/20/2017 12:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Windows update stopped working for most Windows 7 computers I came across. I had to run some manual updates in order to get Windows update working again. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69322556 I think it had to do with the GWX (get Windows ten) files sent to all Windows 7 computers. Many people were probably un-patched without realizing it. Windows update would just hang and continue to search for updates and never completing. Correct, Microsoft has deliberately broken Windows 7 updates several times as many people have discovered. To fix Windows 7 x64 with SP1 updates research (download and install) the following two .msu (Microsoft Updater) patches in the order shown below. Note this can also be done straight after fresh install of Windows 7 after Service Pack 1 (SP1) has been applied. KB 3172605 (Windows6.1-KB3172605-x64.msu) KB 3020369 (Windows6.1-KB3020369-x64.msu) Windows Updates should start working again, and add about 2 years worth of patches. Note: Microsoft added some of the Windows 10 "telemetry features" to Windows 7 Research the following two Windows 7 services (they need to be disabled or deleted using an elevated command prompt): DiagTrack dmwappushservice For those who understand, the following commands may be helpful... sc stop DiagTrack sc stop dmwappushservice sc delete DiagTrack sc delete dmwappushservice Also research the file where Microsoft log key strokes: AutoLogger-Diagtrack-Listener.etl The following elevated command may be helpful, it will delete the content of the file, replacing it with an empty one. echo "" > C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Diagnosis\ETLLogs\AutoLogger\AutoLogger-Diagtrack-Listener.etl Thank you for this!! Turns out one of them sneaked onto my computer. |

This is going to sound stupid, so go ahead and be sure to flame... Why don't you learn how to code in python and make games for Linux, if your complaint is that there's no apps for Linux. Everyone seems to complain about the lack of games for Linux, me too to an extent. Why not learn enough about Python to program some? You could even make money by selling them for $2.99 USD on Steam. I bought RPGmaker and you can deploy your RPG games into Linux.(Probably Ubuntu, but Mint is based off Ubuntu.) I'm thinking about making a couple over the next 3 years, because I'm unhappy about there not being enough native Linux games... Just something to think about. Alternatively you could do a GameGuru/RPGmaker and make software for other people to make games for Linux. It's not like we don't have the time considering we're on a forum. I could've mounted and unmounted and remounted the game. (NFS Hot Pursuit 2) But my Funstation 4 looks a lot prettier and runs a lot faster. Besides racing games are all basically the same.
