Retinitis Pigmentosa
Does anyone know of any treatments for this disorder? I work with a lady who is deaf and legally blind. Are there any diets or vitamins that may slow or stop the progress of this disease?? Thank you for your help, this woman is a mother and a young grandma. She suffers depression with suicidal thoughts because of this.

Jude 1:4 "For there are certain men crept in privily, even they who were of old written of beforehand unto this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ."

It's not the end of the world. Doctors can not predict when it will happen or how fast. Trust me it will be ok. My name is Crystal. Tell her to look out for me on those groups ;-)

I don't know. I know that she can only see me if I am right next to her. I have to wear black or she cant see. She can read very large print and see sign language if the person is very close.

Re: Retinitis Pigmentosa
Very sorry not curable at all, in some cases it can progress more slowly than others. They have tunnel vision and the tunnel gets narrower and narrower as time goes on, but in some cases they can retain site for quite a few years.

They will usually pull driver license early on as without side vision, they can have lots of accidents.

There are very good blind association you can go to with your friend, they are usually very helpful to learn to cope with blindness and make friends. I have been several times with my family member who has this disease.

I see. Well I have connections in this department so the fact you posted was a sign in itself. I'm very familiar with the eye disease. I've been where she is. I want to help her. I can hook her up with groups in almost all the states and even the U.K. I'm here to help.

Re: Retinitis Pigmentosa
It is said going blind is the same emotions as dying and they have to go through the mourning, but once accepted they can be very happy and live very fulfilling lives. I am speaking as someone who grew up watching this happen to a VERY close relative.

She went through morning period and is a very happy person now and many people meet her and don't realize she is even blind as she does a lot and doesn't let it get in her way.

It's good you want to be supportive, but better to help her get help to move forward in life than to look for magical cures, trust me there are none with this disease. The cones and rods deteriorate and become destroyed you can't magically fix it with cannabis or vitamins.

Re: Retinitis Pigmentosa
OP, Wealthy casino owner Mr. Steve Wynn has the same inherited disease. If you can contact his assistant at Wynn Casino stating the reason for your call you may be able to find a source for the latest developments.

My former, strictly platonic roommate essentially committed suicide as he could not cope with the increasing loss of his independence due to the disease destroying his eyesight.
