Only true balm for a soul on existential crisis that I have ever found.

If nothing else...we exist so dogs can and be loved;) they should. It's worth it for dogs.

I love dogs so much, but it hurts me too badly to lose them. I would love to get Doberman if I ever did get another pup, but they always leave such a void when they go.
 Quoting: masterpalerider

On the other side of the fence though, if you don't get a puppy Doberman because you hate the thought of losing it one day, then that puppy Doberman you don't get could spend it's life in a similar sort of hell with someone who doesn't appreciate it.

If you catch my drift!

I don't understand what keeps you people drawn into this life game.

The big reward is stuffing your cock into a germ-infested mucous membrane that bleeds and births more non-consenting babies to be condemned as slaves?

Grappling against the odds and against the atrophy of time, and for what? It all bleeds out through your fingers like handfuls of sand.

You say you are gifting life onto children by burdening them with labor and death.

And then you praise nature and the circle of life, all while organism feasts upon organism, and suffering abounds.

I don't understand.

What if God was looking for friends He could trust? If I were in his position, I'd create a universe based on ultimate free will. It would appear to the vain and pseudointellectual to be chaos, but to those who stop and listen, She makes herself quite evident.

Maybe Life is a dangerous, roller coaster ride, or some similar metaphor, to those who haven't had time to stop and let the Almighty introduce Himself. It can be a lonely horror, or, it can be an exhilarating, scary card game of Trust.

The Apostles KNEW people thought they were fools. And to all the "practical" people of the time, they probably were.

One final thing - If the Big Guy was looking for friends he could Trust, he wouldn't just walk up to people and say, "Dude! I'm God." Why? because if a person REALLY, ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY KNEW THERE WAS A GOD, he could never experience another moment of free will. That person would be like the jester in court, only pretending to have one up on the monarch, when in fact his life hung by a thread. There is NO friendship with an underling, only fear of transgression. So, nobody really knows if God is real.

In the mean time, enjoy yourself, don't hurt anybody, or steal their stuff. And listen, when you can, for that "still small voice." You never know..

Re: Why bother, honestly?
For me, instead of staring into the liquid mirror, wondering, I try to keep busy with mundane things. Reading is good, games, art, internet to a degree, until you end up on a thread like this lol!

Internet is a special part of the mirror, for some reason it is more glaring. There seem to be many people coming to the realization. Maybe because, our hardware of neurons is a network, and by extension we become nodes on the internet, thereby exponentially increasing the size of the network and collective self awareness, where infinity begins to remember.

It can be agonizing. Theres not much to do except try to forget. I know many people who have tried the final solution. It might seem like a solution, but in my opinion, all you do is reset the clock, maybe get a little more 'time' in blissful ignorance, but you'll always be faced with yourself, every time, eventually.

sigh
 Quoting: )0(

Interesting points.

Technologically speaking, I especially like the 'node' part, because it seems to hold within it an explanation for 'synchronicities'.

As electric, energetic beings, this day and age finds us living in a 'sea' of all manner of waveforms coming from all directions.

Add this to considerations of supra-consciousness, and the many ways we are 'connected' leaves us with an infinite dimensional 'surface' of things we could be connecting with.

Take the development of this thread, for instance, which simply asked: why bother?

We enter in to find a valid statement based upon logic, which uncannily unfolds to reveal layer upon layer of other thought-provoking themes.

Have we all been 'drawn here' because we 'connected' in some way to the very 'essence' of what was 'pre'destined to unfold here?

It leads me to wonder how many other 'connected' people may be having similar thoughts, despite not realizing this thread exists.

Love this thread!

Fair question, for sure. I was referring, in that reply, to having grown tired of philosophical works that provide mental wheel-spinning, but no real healing.

I did use the term salvation in the sense of an immediate relief. Poor word choice on my part, my apologies.

Having someone insert their sweaty, filthy genitals into a hairy urine-stained vagina only to release sperm which will fuse with an egg and cause a parasitic being to grow, steal resources from the woman's body, expand the woman's entire body for 9 months causing nausea, diarrhea, sleep aches, and stomach pain, only to send her to the hospital where she will deliver a 9 pound being out of a small vaginal hole which will be ripped, bleeding and scarred as she screams and cries out in unmistakable agony and trauma from the blistering pain.

This is the origin of this shitshow we call life.

Then once the child turns of age, they get tossed into school from age 5-18, for 5 days 8 hours a week, go to college, rack up debt, graduate and get hired for a job that they hate, and stay in the cycle of working and paying bills and trying to keep their sanity in this vile world.

Only to then die and get buried in a casket and eaten by decomposing worms and bugs. All of that work, all of those years of living...all for nothing.

Morgan, I feel that I am not currently in the space to give the respect that your beautifully-said replies deserve, but I wanted to at least touch base and say that you have truly blessed me today, and I couldn't agree more with your thoughts on the inter-connectivity of the ones that have been called to view or post on the thread; I'm thrilled that you have been nourished from this discussion as well, because I know I have been.

Your line about getting out of my own way, and asking and receiving really stood out to me as well.

I hope to come back and reply more to you and some other posters to give them the attention they deserve.

Thank you again.

So it's terminal? Is this the end of the road in terms of philosophical understanding? Where do we go from here, even if alone?

Philosophers aren't "we" they live in the depths of history as notorious loners.

Take the blog out of the wings and write, find the way!

Thank you so much for the encouragement. You are absolutely correct though: the thinker and writer is often a strange breed of observing alien, outside of his own society.

You have blessed me.

You get to do it all over!! I think..

Or you go to dairy king for ice creams.

I'm still not certain for sure and neither should disappoint you more than other recommendations.

That doesn't sound like a big prize at all, honestly.

I agree.

I'm hard time taking the Luke road

""If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters--yes, even their own life--such a person cannot be my disciple."
 Quoting: one_of_nine

Exactly. Something is seriously wrong with that statement, and how do we know who's words they really are anyway.

No fucking thanks, I will pass on a statement like that.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37804390

I also considered that the translation of the word 'hate' was faulty.

The Bible I finally found 'that speaks to me' is George M. Lansa's Eastern text translation from the language Jesus spoke: Aramaic.

Luke 14:26

"He that comes to me and does not put aside his father and mother and brothers and sisters and his wife and children and even his own life cannot be a disciple of mine."

Lukes 14:28-30 and 33 helps explains it:

"For which of you wishes to build a tower does not at first consider it's cost, to see if he has enough to finish it?

Lest after he has laid the foundation, he is not able to finish it, and all who see it will mock him,

Saying, This man began to build, but was not able to finish.

14-33: So every man of you who would not leave all his possessions cannot be a disciple to me"

========

The word 'hate' has become an unfortunate translation err...as seen in the old game 'telephone'.

What Jesus was saying is that he rather have disciples who are not only willing to spread the good news far and wide, but are willing to 'stick around' to ensure the message is understood fully.

That spreading His new concepts and teachings would prove fruitless if a community hears them, but is then abandoned because events in the disciple's personal life calls him away.

It's about self-less dedication for the greater good. Not any different from some job requirements today, when a candidate's personal ties could hinder completing his work.

That's why I love this translation.

In the Aramaic, the words 'rope' and 'camel' are almost identical. It makes more sense for a rope to pass into the eye of a needle than a camel...although either word still suits the purpose of the saying's meaning.

Hope this helps clear that up!

Re: Why bother, honestly?
I don't understand what keeps you people drawn into this life game.

The big reward is stuffing your cock into a germ-infested mucous membrane that bleeds and births more non-consenting babies to be condemned as slaves?

Grappling against the odds and against the atrophy of time, and for what? It all bleeds out through your fingers like handfuls of sand.

You say you are gifting life onto children by burdening them with labor and death.

And then you praise nature and the circle of life, all while organism feasts upon organism, and suffering abounds.

I don't understand.

I've got no clue either. I just try to be good and do other beings life here just a little bit more pleasant.
Life & the world in such a mess it all seems pointless, but I still have some hope left.. Who knows there may be something about life & living after all.

And here goes : Free hug for everyone! Even for Swedes who we just lost in WC-icehockey game :)

To leave this place a little sweeter than you left it is a wholly admirable and beautiful thing. I think if we all tried following your way of thinking, we'd all be better for it.

I'm in no position to turn down a free hug.

Thank you.

I just want to thank everyone again.

You have filled my cup to the brim and it runneth over.

I am all gratefulness, and honestly somewhat in awe.

It's amazing the healing that community can bring.
