The LEO is completely out of line. The Supreme Court has already set presedince on public servants and monitoring. Like it or not everyone deserves the same disposition as the next guy. Just remember it could be you very easily.

His actions aren't as offensive as the fact he actually has ANY authority whatsoever over another human being.

Re: Cop Punches Innocent Man in the Face for Questioning His Authority
The cop shouldn't have touched him and/or his phone. That is first and foremost. There was no need for it. He lost his cool.

This Royal Marti guy got under his skin and the cop had enough of it. Thing is, you can't just go and act out like that. People in general shouldn't handle things that way (not saying I haven't had or witnessed such occurrences on occassion, just recognizing it's not the best way to react unless truly necessary). But when you're a cop it's all the more important that you keep yourself composed for numerous reasons.

That said, most people probably don't realize just how difficult and stressful being a cop can be. Most cops have probably dealt with more than their fair share of difficult people and found themselves in situations where they really need to protect themselves to more of an extent than most of us ever will.

The last thing they need to find themselves dealing with is someone being a pest and criticizing them about how they are doing their job while they are doing it. If these two didn't do anything wrong then in an instance like this there is no reason to give the cop a hard time (and the reality is that no matter what is going on, giving a cop a hard time is never going to end well for you).

Whether the cop had a justified reason for what he was checking or not, those two shouldn't have done much more than ask what was going on and reply to any questions he may have had in a respectful manner.

Cops have enough bullshit to deal with. When you show them respect and interact with them politely more likely than not they will treat you in a similar fashion.

I know there are instances where cops have been harassing someone, abusing their position of power, and engaging in physical contact to unnecessary extents, but that's not how I see this.

The cop shouldn't have smacked him. But it's not like he smacked him because he was in the position of being the cop. He smacked him cause this Royal Marti guy was acting like a know-it-all and got closer to him than he should have in that moment.

"Victim" sounded confrontational.

He pushed it. COP said, "You can go."

He didn't.

Duh!

When a cop gives you an out, take it!!!!!

Why didn't he take it????

FAIL!!!!

Does not matter, unless the person taking the photo/video is showing physical harm to the LEO he is wrong. The vid does not show anything other than someone standing up for their rights. Obstruction is not even present.

WORD!

I blew a blinking 15mph school sign (DUH!) and was very respectful to the motorcycle cop who quite literally nailed me. I, upfront, admitted it and was cool with him, and my ticket went from $400 to $200 and change because of my "attitude." (He mentioned my "attitude"...)

Be nice when you fuck up... it might help....

A lot of cops are cool. Think about it....

Video link is no longer working? Wouldn't play for me...
 Quoting: WOLF*

Quick synopsis....

Drunk idiot films cop who ultimately gives a pass, but the douche bag continues to video (provoke) him to the point where the cop lets him have it.

LESSON01: If you shoot someone because you feel like it... you go to prison for 30 years at least.

LESSON02: If a cop shoots you, his colleagues investigate him. The past sentence may indicate to you how that "investigation" may pan out.

Simply put.... don't mess with police. It will lengthen your lifespan. :)

If you're drunk and police show up.... be quiet. It's not that they'll kill you under normal circumstances, but you might get arrested. And that's on you're record forever... unless you get an attorney to get it all expunged.... many years later....

Just be cool and respectful. The alternative is miserable...

Give to Cesar what is his. Generally speaking, relax and you'll be ok.

Ok tough guy.

You first....

Oh, right. I thought so.

Keep typing you Navy Seal you. :D

He pulled me over because I blew an obvious traffic sign. My bad.

I was going to ask what you would do in that situation, but then I decided not to. Please leave me alone.

Anarchy is not the answer. You might consider that... or not. It's up to you.

If the man(hardly seems right to call him that) was innocent, then why was the peace officer forced to police said person? I'll tell you why; because he was as guilty as MJ was.

'He just hit me!' THIS statement is unlawful. The cop DID NOT hit him.

Video shows angry cop slapping camera from his hand, man says.

This dickweed Royal Marti, who is running for city council, then later says that he had his camera slapped out of his hand. Typical snowflake exageration. if you play the video in slow motion you can see the cop's hand is nowhere near the marti guy. The cop is trying to wipe sweat from his brow and the Marti guy thrusts his camera at the cop's hand trying to make it look like the cop did it.

It's funny when your not on the receiving end. Everyone needs to take a step back and ask their selves " WHAT ARE MY RIGHTS". Just because you are perseived as being a dick head does not mean you get your head bashed. Any vid or photo can be shown out of text, there is a aboundenced of them on the web. We all deserve equal protection, like it or not.
