Soundgarden VS Alice in Chains

Alice In Chains is better, though Soundgarden is no slouch. Alice In Chains was a bad motherfucker.

Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, and Pearl Jam all had some decent songs, (imo Nirvana was the worst of the bunch), but Soundgarden and AIC seemed a step up, a little deeper.

I like Alice in Chains music a bit more, but Chris Cornell is certainly a better singer than Layne Staley.

Depending on my mood, I might like either band a bit more on any given day.

Good answer. I've been on a sg kick lately, but can't deny AIC had some of the most badass music ever.

AIC is probably my favorite band of all time so its no contest,but if i could have any ones pipes,i'd choose chris's,with laynes R*,but look cool like jerry.

Alice In Chains had more depth in what they could do. But the best 90's bands weren't from Seattle.

Actually, Layne Staley is my favorite male singer of all time. Cornell was also impressive, and technically better, but Staley was more emotive and raw.

I'd say the bands are fairly neck and neck. AIC was darker, moodier. But a song like Would or Rooster next to a song like Rusty Cage? I can't say which is better.

One of my favorite songs of all time is actually by Mother Love Bone. I'm not even that old, really, but I'll never get to hear one of my favorite singers or songs live. I wish I had the presence of mind to see these bands when I could've. I was young and dumb at the time. I can't even listen to AIC without thinking about it every time.

I really miss that whole era. I don't feel like I belong in the world of today. And the crappy music that gets a lot of play nowadays is just awful.

One sounds like a three legged cat with its nuts caught in a in an electrified barbed wire fence and the other sounds like a four legged cat going tail first into a slow meat grinder.

I think Chris was the best singer before he damaged his vocal cords. Soundgarden was too inactive though. It'll be interesting to see if they can find a new singer. Chris was too distracted with solo work and Timberline nonsense and pretty much ruined Soundgarden. Alice in Chains sounds as good as ever. Looks like the new singer is pulling it off. AIC sounds better. I can loop it all day.
