Serious Doom potential with H7N9 bird flu -- human to human transmission and a 40% kill rate
Last week China reported a case of H7N9 that appears to have spread person to person, not bird to person. The infected patient had no contact with birds or live bird markets, and he had no underlying medical condition. He was a healthy 62-year-old man, who helped a family member hospitalized with H7N9 to use the bathroom. Genetic analysis of the infecting virus indicates that he was infected with the same strain of virus that infected his family member.

This could be a sign that H7N9 is evolving into a virus that spreads among people. A highly contagious virus that has a 40% mortality rate. By way of comparison, Ebola is a highly contagious virus with a 50% mortality rate that spreads among people. There is serious potential here for global catastrophe.

From the CDC

As of May 23, 2017, the World Health Organization (WHO) has reported 688 human infections with Asian H7N9 virus during the 5th epidemic, making it the largest epidemic to date. This brings the total cumulative number of human infections with Asian lineage H7N9 reported by WHO to 1,486. Additional infections have been reported, but not yet publically announced by WHO. During epidemics one through four, about 40 percent of people confirmed with Asian H7N9 virus infection died.

This video is a little old. Since then the virus has learned human to human transmission. It doesn't bother the birds that much and kills people!

Ebola's not highly contagious or airborne. You've got to smear yourself with the bodily fluids of an infected person to get it.

It was a lot more contagious than that in the recent pandemic. Health professionals in space suits were still contracting it and it's definitely gone airborne. But nothing like the common cold or flu, that's true.

This health expert just uttered the words "global pandemic" in association with the H7N9 bird flu.
