I have millennials that I assist with their resumes for this reason. It seems that none of them understand the purpose of a resume, nor are they taught how to develop one. I see shitty resumes all the time, and when they leave my hands, they are professional, succinct and well formatted.
The other thing I do is explain to them WHY I'm making the changes to the resume, and what purpose the change serves.
The best resume I ever edited helped my wife get a good paying job after 20 years of marriage and stay-at-home child rearing, so she could eventually screw another guy, and I could file against her for divorce without having to pay her alimony.

Plus children raised with a stay home mom turn out to be incredibly naive. Most of the social justice warriors were raised by a stay home mom and had a dad at work all the time who couldn't give them attention when they were young.
