It's fucked up how I'm expected to happily live life and accomplish all of this bullshit when it will ALL be going to the grave with me. Any memories will fade the moment that I die and my existence will permanently disappear into the nothingness as a new child is born to replace me and carry out the same tasks I had to before it dies and is replaced with a new person. And the cycle senselessly continues.

King Solomon had the same lament. Check out the book of Ecclesiasties in the bible.

The OP knows life is a scam. There's no need for him to read the Bible and get scammed a second time. Why not ask him to read about the gods of Olympus, it's all the same. Nothing but lies and fairy tales for people who need to believe them to get through life.

Re: I feel like life and existence is a complete waste of time. No matter what I do I am still going to die.
We are conscious entities that live on a beautiful planet, most of us are able to enjoy our food and drink, enjoy talking to others, enjoy traveling, enjoy our families. When you die, you will likely never have the same opportunities that you do in this life. In fact, there may not be a "you" to continue.

"Eat, drink, and be merry--for tomorrow you die."

Luke 12:19
Study Bible
The Parable of the Rich Fool
…18Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and will build bigger ones, and there I will store up all my grain and my goods. 19Then I will say to myself, “You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take it easy. Eat, drink, and be merry!”’ 20But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be required of you. Then who will own what you have accumulated?’…

These are the symptoms of spiritually bankruptcy.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75096426

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73649866

No, it isn't.

It's actually the complete opposite: True spiritual awareness.

A person can only begin to perceive the true nature of this reality and existence once they realize that the "material world" is an empty illusion -- and that hollow pursuits aren't the point of it all.

It isn't about "finding religion", either. Simply put, it is all about waking up. That's it.

Once a person reaches that point, they can begin to see the next level/layer. However, they can't get there without first realizing how this illusory life appears to be a "complete waste of time".
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75092936

Worded perfectly.

A truly awakened person reckgnizes this existence for what it REALLY is as OP does.

Don't dwell on the reasons we are here and just make something of it.
And of course you will die and return here again and again but will become more civilized in the process.
I guess we will all eventually end up being a bunch Of christs and Buddhas as the final product.

You clearly don't have the hope of eternal life through God. That is why you are miserable. This world of lies has convinced you are just a biological organism waiting to die. But your soul will live on if you come to your Father Creator.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75093524

Here's the problem with that.

I NEVER asked to be here.

I never asked to exist or even to not exist. No one ever asked me if I wanted an "eternal afterlife".

I'm tired of having shit assigned to me without MY permission.

I am living a wasteful life that I never asked for forced to do tasks that I never asked for only to inevitably hurl towards a nonexistence that I also never asked for. It's all bullshit to be honest. This whole thing is corrupt.

I also enjoy the love from my family, even though all of them will eventually pass on and I'll lose all of that. At this point I'm not prepared mentally for the pain of death, but aside from that, I am more frightened of the unknown. This is the subconscious fear that makes us fight to stay alive, even though we know it is a futile vanity project. Perhaps those fears are valid? Maybe there is some incredibly evil force on the other side which put us in this soul prison, and we subconsciously do all we can to avoid facing that dark force?

My cousin was on his deathbed dying of cancer last month, and even though he was in extreme pain, he was more terrified of the unknown so avoided closing his eyes as much as he could in case he never woke up. His eyes became crimson due to eye strain.

Physical pain.

And I suspect there must be something after death for sure. You've likely pondered on this as much as I have. I mean, I cannot picture nothingness. Some people think, when you die, there is nothing bt blackness, but if you're consciously aware of blackness, then it means you are still alive. This is the equivalent of saying, after death there is nothing but white, red or yellow.

Also, here's another clue that we have some sort of spirit bodies which operate independently of our physical ones. In a dream we can see, hear, touch and move around vast plains; interact with people or creatures, etc.

I don't really care about what chemical in the brain may or may not cause a dream to manifest, my point is I personally remember doing all of these things in "another" plane of existence. So, it goes to show that our consciousness can operate in another body (the dream body) and world, and not just the physical one.

Therefore, after death I think our consciousness must go into another non-physical body - similar to the one we use to interact with the dream matrix.

And yet, he died.
Do you want to be concious at your time, or passively in the hands of Morpheus?
Or with the quick suddenness of a wreck or bullet?
Not a slow one like fire or drowning.

Who knows what yours will be?

I chose to believe in a Creator and his great plan for human redemption for those who wish to erase the stain of corruption using the Son to change their programming to escape this coming universes' release into energy, or lake of fire.
Being an eternal being and realizing your fate was tied to your own pride residing in a black hole of energy alone must be the most gut wrenching truth. A true hell.

There are ways in which one dies without experiencing physical pain. Even in an event such as a plane crash, they will experience the emotion pain of fear, but feel no physical pain on impact when they die instantly. Yes most methods of death are painful but a lot of times it is only for a split second.

When you think about it, if an afterlife does exist, then it is not even an afterlife, it's just a continuation of your life in a new dimension. It will likely happen so fast that you won't even notice. Have you read any near death experience personal accounts? Have you ever listened to a medium try to communicate with "spirits"? Maybe that would comfort you. Some near death experiences report being embraced by a warm bright light, some report everything going blank as if they were under anesthetics.

Yeh, man, I have read lots of NDE accounts. Some very pleasant, some very unpleasant. Despite all of this, and even if very convincing, I guess seeing is believing.

And I concur with your point somewhat, you said you might not even notice that you have died. This reminds me of when I dream and I have no awareness of my physical life until something - on the odd occasion - triggers me into remembering, and it's usually then I have full awareness and experience a lucid dream.

When I have lucid dreams I always marvel at the detail on environments, and wonder, 'How the fuck did my simple mind create this infinitely detailed world? I can't tell the difference between this and reality. Could this be another dimension?'. When I start pondering too much, it's like the plug gets pulled and I wake up.

Life and death is a mystery.

Re: I feel like life and existence is a complete waste of time. No matter what I do I am still going to die.

The only "purpose" of this existence is to work, pay taxes, and die. We are born into a machine and we are the little pieces and screws that keep this thing running.

Everything in between that is a bunch of distractions from your inevitable plummet towards death. Procreating, marrying, traveling, shopping , partying - it's all ways that people try to cope with the fact that their existence is a waste of time filled with duties that they never asked to have inflicted upon them and that they will be gone in the blink of an eye when they pass away and any trace of memories that they had will be dying with them.

Why work, get a degree, date, travel, or spend all of life trying to become rich when ALL of that and its memories will die with you? What the fuck is the point of any of this and why do I exist when I never consented to it?

That's like saying 'no matter how I swim I will still end up on land'

Well, maybe if you're a good swimmer you will be sent for another swim?

For us time is relevant. Like walls we cannot get past. How would life and all reality look to you without time? Would you still need to look for the purpose? Or would perfection be it?
