Only 39% of religious "nones" liked him in 2013, but in 2015 68% thought he was a great guy. That's quite the jump. When Francis began his papacy in March of 2013, 57% of Americans held a favorable view of him, while 14% held an unfavorable view and 29% couldn’t give him a rating. Now, seven-in-ten Americans express a favorable view of Francis, while 19% express an unfavorable opinion and just 11% say they don’t know enough to be able to rate the pontiff. Of course they are pushing an agenda, but this doesn't deny the widespread popularity with these people. Pope Francis is loved by people because he is inclusive. He is inclusive of people outside of his religion, and people that are marginalized. This gains him widespread popularity. Not only this, but he's an ecumenical Pope, as were the others before him. It's not that I think literally no one will dislike what Pope Francis does, but GLP is a website that I would generally consider as the "odd one out". As for the previous Pope, I remember seeing something about him being involved with nefarious things (as all are). And no, I do not believe the prophecies of those who do not live according to this: Isaiah 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. |
