Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75088615 I imagine that taking seatbelts out of the equation would result in the body ejecting but wouldn't that technically increase chances of survival? |

If it were a clear path their might be hope but if you're talking about most automobiles it would be like ejecting through a Veg-O-Matic. |

So no, 70mph to 0mph due to collision will not guarantee death provided safety equipment is in proper working order. PureSnow |

That's why he was still breathing in smoke. But There's no way someone could survive an impact going 85mph towards a tree. Your organs will be bursting out of your ribcage at 85mph. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75097819 It's what killed Princess Di. I think that she was still alive moments after the crash though. Her heart moved from the left side to the right side of her chest. I can't remember but I don't think she was wearing a seatbelt. |

But the damage that killed her was a tear. |

Depends again on safety systems including the crumpling of the car itself, which can absorb to such an extent that Walker would have survived if aftermarket fuel lines weren't used. There is no sound evidence that Walker was either unconscious or concious during the fire.. personally I think he was awake and authorities wanted to ease the public psyche. I do recall hearing some very early eyewitness account that there was screaming coming from the car... PureSnow |

FWIW, I barely survived a 35mph crash into a solid wall (don't ask..I was young and stupid) and did have heart and lung injury from the organs slamming into my ribs/chest, but I had no seatbelt or anything to absorb impact. The answer is no, no one in the car would survive with or without a seat belt. On a side not your eyes would pop out of your head from the force. Very few cases where the eyes didn't pop out. |

If the immovable large solid object was directly in front of the person, survival is unlikely--but length of hood and motor size and shape could conceivably allow occasional survival--but even then with very serious injury. _______________ They let me off with a warning and a couple of bullet holes. |
