Anonymous Coward User ID: 19160089 United States 06/19/2017 05:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I always liked this approach. I ask the person to think about two employers or teachers that they admired and to think about two employers or teachers they disliked. After giving them a moment I ask them to give me three reasons they admired each employer/teacher. Then I ask them to give me three reasons they disliked the other two employers/teachers. Not only are they not prepared with a canned answer so that you get real time thought from them, but you also get to learn what is important to them. For example, if both employers they admired were both described as being fair and they said one of the the employers they disliked was unfair, then it's safe to assume this person values fairness in the workplace. Whatever the similarities are can be very revealing of their true feelings and values. Rarely do I ever have someone list 12 completely different characteristics. |
