I wish……………

I wish it was the 1960s/70s again, when life did not hold the awful pressures of today and felt a different place, a different Ether.

We would in the main walk to school with our friends, have assembly every morning and sing hymns before starting the days lessons. As much as I hated it, it was good for me, singing on a morning is good for you and opens up your brain/mind with oxygen and serenity.

Kids do not have assembly anymore.

School dinners, I always moaned but gees it was restaurant food compared to now! Platters of salmon and cucumber, fish and chips, roast beef dinners. Sponge and custard for afters.

God only knows what poison kids are forced to eat now. In the UK kids are allowed by the government 9p for a daily meal!

Music and culture dominated our lives each week, getting your pocket money and so excited to go buy the latest single or album on a Saturday morning.

Kids just buy shitty music on downloads now.

Summer holidays, six weeks of bliss, roamed everywhere with my friends and walked miles. We were all fit and thin in the sun. No parents driving you everywhere.

TV was fun and simple, loved comedy shows that were actually funny, cartoons and laurel and Hardy, Harold Loyd, Charlie Chaplin on a morning in school holidays. Top of the Pops. Spooky American shows on a night, Time Tunnel, Star trek, I can go on forever with this list.

No mobile phones just telephone boxes , if you got a lolli stick and put it up the change slot all the money fell out, loved that.

No cameras watching you everywhere you went.

No Wi-Fi burning your brains out.

No smart street lighting with microphones and Wi-Fi inside them. No smart meters.

No mobile telephone mast in schools and every street corner killing us all.

I did not have much money in those days but I would return to it tomorrow if I had a time machine and never come back!
