Supreme Court agrees non-violent misdemeanor crimes may not strip Second Amendment Rights
6/27/17 | by Chris Eger

The nation’s high court on Monday let stand a ruling against the government in the combined cases of two men blocked from gun possession after run-ins that resulted in convictions for non-serious crimes.

This week, the court declined to take up an appeal sought by the Obama-era Justice Department in the cases of Binderup v. the U.S. Attorney General and Suarez v. the U.S. Attorney General. Four Justices were needed to grant the petition but only two, Justices Ginsburg and Sotomayor, felt the court should hear the case.

Last September, a 15-judge panel of the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Pennsylvania disagreed 8-7, siding with Binerup and Suarez in a lengthy 174-page decision. In the end, that panel cited the relatively minor sentences passed on the two men as the reason to disregard their crimes as being serious enough to void their gun rights.

America must have 4 new Constitutional Amendments...
1. Drug Tests and Mental Evaluations on all politicians and judges randomly five times per year.
2. Term Limits for Federal politicians and judges.
3. Mental and health standards for Supreme Court Justices and retirement age set.
4. A 'Star Chamber' of elected Natural Born Citizens (no attorney's) to ivestigate, try, and prosecute the politicians and government employee's as they see fit.

Mandatory death penalty by public hanging is the merciful sentence for pedos and their associates.

I've always heard it said that a person "pays their debt to society" through completion of a sentence.

But it doesn't appear so when restrictions of rights continue.

This subject is near and dear to my heart.

When I was 18, a friend and I stole a box of motorcycle parts out of the back of a parked pickup truck and got caught.
Stupid kid shit.
I got convicted of a minor felony, served no time. Did my probation. It has now been over 30 years, and I have not even had a speeding ticket since then.
Yet I cannot own a gun.
The outcome is not preordained.

what about for a mala prohibitum "crime"?

malum prohibitum
(mal-uhm prohibit-uhm) adj. Latin meaning "wrong due to being prohibited," which refers to crimes made so by statute, compared to crimes based on English Common Law and obvious violations of society's standards which are defined as "malum in se." Statutory crimes include criminal violations of regulatory acts, "white collar crimes" such as improper use of insider information, issuance of stocks without a permit which are intentionally not supported by real assets, and tax avoidance. (See: malum in se, white collar crime)

I agree. My step daughter got caught up with her dumbass ex husband in running from cops in a car. She was just passenger in car. He had taken her with him to sell drugs. Some guy in back with him had a gun. She got hit with all charges including the gun. She never ran from cops or tested for drugs. 2 felony charges for the rest of her life. Co dependant woman at the time and she is still fighting to get her 2 girls back and pay huge fines and has had a terrible time getting a good job to show she can support them. 1.2 yrs jail time.
It was awful! Oklahoma. Her whole life is ruined.

Maybe in prison, but there are a whole hell of a lot more "criminals" who go on probation or spend time in local jail where they literal do pay for the priviledge of being fucked by the system.

Local justice is a moneymaking scam that preys upon the weak and the poor who have little or no means to fight for their freedom once the system ensnares them.

Between angry prosecuters trying to pad their stats and overwhelmed public defenders trying to make any kind of a quick plea agreement all too often a minor non-violent crime turns into many many years of lost rights, feedoms, and money, money, money.

Its easy to judge and say don't do the crime, but the restictive, complicated laws of the land would make anyone and everyone a criminal if their behavior were closely examined closely.
