Using an electronic kit makes mixing difficult and frankly the cymbals are just too loud and ruin the tracks. Was that a Roland TD7 or TD11 brain?

You have a good voice and can write well so keep working at it.

thanks, yep, still a major novice at mixing and mastering. That's a Yamaha kit I'm playing, btw. just have to go with what I got, probably more of a mixing problem than the instrument though.

I'm listening with earbuds through a pc so I wouldn't take my comment too literally. It probably sounds much better through good speakers or headphones. I don't know about the Yamaha kit but the Roland you can get in the menu and adjust the volume and response on each pad individually. Thing about cymbals is their frequency range is so high unless you are playing high notes on a guitar they stand out. Things get murky in the low mid range where guitar, vocals and bass overlap in frequency.

sounds like you know a little about mixing.

I heard the general rule is mixing is done when it sounds at least "good", no matter what you play it on.

I know I'm not all the way there, but it 's sounding decent on most things I play it on.

btw, "The Fall" is a pretty stripped down song, no cymbals or high frequency percussion instruments on it. don't know if you checked that one out.

I know, I know, everyone's a critic, but I'm going to criticize. It wasn't "tight." It sounded very...sloppy.

^^THIS^^ Ditch the cymbals. Too loud and sound way fake for a "original rock CD release" as you put it.

Vocals sound thin and need more processing, effects and possibly tracks.

Doing everything myself on a shoestring budget, I'm happy
enough with the sound.

The point of the songs can get across, so I'm content with that, and the one comment on the songs themselves in this thread was positive, so I'm good.

Good effort. I like the raw sound. It kind of reminds me of the Pixies.

As you progress with recording skills, you'll look back at this effort as a raw demo but never forget that it's still good. The songs stand on their own.

You need an acoustic drum kit and some mics, though. Seriously. That electronic kit will never sound how you want it to.

This is a fantastic song. I love the sound. It takes me back to the early 90s with bands like Sebadoh, Built to Spill and Sonic Youth. You rock, dude!

Pretty good stuff keep it going. I have a home studio also but I'm still learning how to play drums.

You should monetize your YouTube uploads. Do it fast. I'm going to try my best (my meager best, mind you) to get you some subscribers and views. All your songs are pretty good but this one is the showstopper, in my opinion.

You worked hard on this project. Might as well get a little cash and exposure out of it.

never thought of getting any cash out of it, but would love the exposure, you've been a real blessing already man.

that song (WYA) is probably my secret favorite, my most gut felt artistic expression of the 8 songs, that you "got it" means much. Doug
