Although I agree that the Sun is also responsible for global warming, I still believe that we still need to find a new and much more sustainable way of living that is less reliant on oil.

Re: The Great Global Warming Swindle ! (GoogolVid)
Wow!

I am saying this not because it is good science, let's face it, this is a list of people working for the oil and coal industries, so their words, form the producer to the scientists is really suspect...

But that is not my point here.

I looked up the satallite data and weather balloon models they were saying disproved the theory.

It turned out that the information we were given in the film was wrong.

MORE, the new corrections out for satalite drift and balloon heating and expansion at the equators pretty much endorses the global warming theory.

So, why am I saying wow?

Because, when I put in a google search this week, today, the first several pages was filled with debuning efforts, were as the same search last week did not have that going on at all!

How HUGE an effort is being made by the oil companies to do this? This is a massive effort the likes of which I have never seen before.

This alone should tell you to keep your eyes open and NOT believe, not without research on your own, form good, untainted sources, that what these people are saying is true.

It reminds me a bit of how the cigarette companies hired doctors and scientists to shill their theory that smoking was harmless.

Could this be a link to what is really happening here? Why is allthe scientific data being buried on the web, while a whole host of "Debunking" is popping up?

This could be related to the article below. Please read and decide for youreself.

Warming data allegedly manipulated

By William Neikirk
Tribune senior correspondent
Published January 31, 2007

WASHINGTON -- As a United Nations panel readied an update on global warming this week, charges erupted in Congress on Tuesday over alleged White House political manipulation of scientific climate-change research.

Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said at a hearing that evidence indicated Bush administration officials had tried to "mislead the public by injecting doubt into the science of global warming."

Two advocacy groups released a survey to the panel in which a number of government climate scientists said either that their research had been edited to change the meaning or that they were told to delete references to "global warming" or "climate change" from reports.

White House officials did not appear before the committee, but President Bush in his State of the Union Address last week referred to "global climate change" and said technology should be used to address the problem. The White House has conceded in the past that changes had been made in some reports to achieve "balance" in the debate.

To many observers, Bush's mere mention of the subject indicated that the White House has softened its stance on the climate-change issue, although the president remains opposed to capping carbon dioxide emissions, a step many scientists believe is necessary.

The climate-change issue has heated up in Congress with the Democrats coming to power. But it is not clear what will be done this year. Bush is seeking to address it primarily through development of cleaner, renewable sources of energy. Several bipartisan bills would cap emissions and increase the supply of cleaner-burning fuels.

The UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change plans Friday to issue its first of four reports this year on global warming risks. According to Reuters, a draft of the report says there is at least a 90 percent chance human activities are the main cause of climate change.

The alleged political manipulation of global warming research marked Waxman's first inquiry since he took over as head of one of Congress' premier investigative panels.

Waxman reported that he and the ranking Republican on the panel, Rep. Tom Davis of Virginia, had unsuccessfully sought documents from the White House on climate-change policy.

He said this effort was based on published reports last year that a Bush aide, Phil Cooney, a former lobbyist for the oil industry who at the time headed the White House's Council on Environmental Quality, had "imposed his own views on the reports scientists had submitted to the White House." Waxman called it an "orchestrated campaign to mislead the public about climate change."

But Davis said that while he does not deny that global warming is a problem, he is concerned that such allegations of political interference show that "politicizing science has itself become politicized."

A University of Colorado political scientist, Roger Pielke, told the committee that it was a "myth" that politics and science could be separated. He said scientists often join interest groups that agree with their point of view.

The two advocacy groups, the Union of Concerned Scientists and the Government Accountability Project, conducted investigations and produced a joint report titled "Atmosphere of Pressure: Political Interference in Federal Climate Science."

The Union of Concerned Scientists, a frequent government critic, mailed a questionnaire to more than 1,600 climate scientists at seven federal agencies. Of the 279 respondents, the survey said, 43 percent "perceived or personally experienced changes or edits" to their research that "changed the meaning of scientific findings."

Forty-six percent "perceived or personally experienced pressure" to eliminate "climate change" or global warming from their communications, the report said.

The Government Accountability Project, which calls itself the nation's largest whistle-blower-protection organization, reported that government scientists it interviewed complained of difficulty in releasing official news releases on their research. One unnamed agency scientist who had done research indicating a connection between global warming and devastating hurricanes "was repeatedly barred from speaking to the media," the report said.

Drew Shindell, a climate scientist at NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, said that before the space agency NASA recently relaxed restrictions on talking to the media about research, interview requests went through the White House, and were often rejected or delayed.

In 2004, Shindell said, he and a team of scientists had written a report predicting a warming of the climate in Antarctica, only to find it "repeatedly delayed, altered and watered down." He said he was told that the delay came because two political appointees and the White House were "reviewing all climate-related press releases."

Meanwhile, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee held a hearing on global warming where senators weighed in on the issue.

This came from the website of Piers Corbin, the solar weather guy that appeared on the video.

Letter to David Miliband, Sir David King and Prof Sir Martin Rees.

Sir David King, Chief Scientific Adviser to Her Majesty’s Government. DTI, 1 Victoria Street, London SW1H OET. (Email: [email protected] email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it )

Copied to: Prof Martin Rees (Lord Rees of Ludlow Kt PRS), President of the Royal Society:

Dear David and Sir David,

Serious omission in Final Draft IPCC Summary For Policy Makers, (‘The Physical Science Basis’). Action needed prior to IPCC 26th session, Bangkok 4th May 2007.
I understand from the public circulation of the IPCC letters to governments that the Final Draft Summary For Policy Makers (Physical Science basis – Working Group 1) released on Feb 2nd will be subject to final acceptance at the IPCC session in Bangkok on 4th May.

I have read the Draft Summary for Policy Makers and note a serious omission which if not corrected would justify ‘sceptics’* such as myself in believing that some sort of cover-up is afoot and I therefore urge you request that the IPCC correct it. (* ‘sceptic’ of CO2 as a key driver of temperature rise / Climate Change, not of Climate Change itself which has been going on for millions of years).

The request concerns Figure SPM-1 (page 3 of 18 in a recent copy) which shows the continuous rise of concentration over the last 4,000 years of all of three greenhouse gases considered there – mainly CO2 but also methane and nitrous oxide. Please ask – indeed insist - that the IPCC also show - on the same set of graphs - World and/or Arctic similarly smoothed temperature estimates over the period from at least the ‘Climate Optimum’ about 4,000 years ago to recent times.
It is beyond belief that a report can be published in the name of science which claims that CO2 rising levels cause rising temperatures while only reporting the presumed cause without the supposed historical consequences – ie temperature changes - which are also well documented in data in possession of the IPCC, such as from the internationally funded Arctic Climate Impact Assessment (ACIA) project.

There are other points I and others take issue with, such as serious misrepresentation of solar activity in the Report, but the omission above is so important I thought it should be drawn to your personal attentions. Please correct it for the good of science and public knowledge.

One other matters which causes great confusion in the public mind is the continuous reference in the media to this and other IPCC reports as being “by/from 2,500 (leading) scientists” when in fact the report is drafted and finalized by appointees of Governments who may have little or no expertise in many of the wide ranging fields covered. It should further be noted that the many scientists who undertake diligent measurement and observational or estimation work which is used to indirectly support the report conclusions have generally no expertise or locus around the key subject on which the findings of the report are actually based, namely ‘Climate Models’. This is the preserve of only a handful of people who generally are in government funded institutions rather than more independent bodies. Perhaps the phrase “The (IPCC) Report by appointees of many governments” would be fairer and should be insisted on, and would not incorrectly imply informed confirmed agreement from many scientists whose work, however excellent, does no such thing.
Thank you

Piers Corbyn, ARCS FRAS FRMetS

Re: The Great Global Warming Swindle ! (GoogolVid)
Those calling out the global warming mainly caused by mankind theory are not saying the modern lifestyle is harmless or does not damage the balance of the environment. What they are saying is that the west should not be panelized for their prosperity. The solution for the global warming mainly cased by mankind crowd is to reduce green hoses emissions by targeting the prosperous nations and shipping those jobs/industries over to third world nations. Instead of coming up with alternate fuel sources which will only be developed large scale by the west, they want to shift industry off to third world, where they are going to be dependent on oil for a lot longer then the west will. If there is going to be energy alternatives found, it will be done by the west first, and by shipping industry off to the third world, this is only going to make the process of conversion that much more difficult down the road, if the west loses some of its industrial capacity.

I agree. But ONLY for the reason that current oil companies and governments are continuing to put more and more power into fewer and fewer hands -- thus gaining dictatorial control over everyone in the world.

THAT'S what the political "global warming" situation is all about. That is, "global warming" is just another means to impose more controls on people, just as the "war on terrorism" is a means to an end.

The end being complete control over almost every individual on the planet! (The people not controlled are, of course, the usually self-appointed "leaders," such as Al Gore.)
