I learned a long time ago, do the hardest thing that you're worst at the most.. your weakness will become your strength through hard work. My example: geometry, calculus, and physics..oh..and leg presses..I believe I might still hold my high school record..

Kind of a way of life here in the desert.

You want to get your shit done before it gets too hot.

And I like going to the grocery store early in the morning/late at night.

I get the run of the place, which is usually idiot free.

I work 12 hours a day, 6 days a week and take care of my mentally and physically disabled step-brother.

My life is filled with joy, and I have no time to procrastinate!

(I've been a lazy bum most of my life because of depression caused by isolation. I'd say the direct follow up advice to the words of wisdom Trinity shared, is that if you're feeling bad about yourself, HELP SOMEONE ELSE.)

To a certain degree you have to sit back at the end of the day and consider what you have accomplished - sounds silly but helps considerably, cousin. I'm personally a bit more than half, then some from the isles for my delicious RH neg blood ;)

A little Schnapps here and there helps too

Re: Do The Shit You Don't Want To Do First Everyday!
...

I never go to sleep with even so much as a fork in the sink. I have TRIED before, and I will get out of bed to wash whatever was left in the sink...even if it was just a couple of utensils.

It bothers me mentally. lol It's like going to bed with dishes in the sink and a mess to clean up means that the next morning, my day wouldn't be starting out fresh/new. I also wash pots and things I use to cook AS I'm cooking and before sitting down to eat.

I think I may be a bit OCD, not sure. I've always been a neat freak, even as a child.
 Quoting: Anonymous-Girl

Getting out of bed to wash a fork I think, does qualify you as OCD. AND THAT IS NOT A DIS, because you know I luv you.

I'm OCD as well, but with other things. I always think our house is a wreck, until I visit someone I know, love and respect and think to myself "Wow! We do OK!" I was raised in a house where you could eat off my Moms floors. Does it drive me crazy my house is not the same? Yes. But I've learned at times to cringe and let it go. That being said, I am one of those persons who finds solace in doing dishes ON THE WEEKEND. lol.

Now, if I was retired, then this house would be fucking Mary Poppins "spit spot" clean. I kid you not. Two more years...just two more years..if I'm lucky. ;)
 Quoting: ~ hannah~

I know. ;) I was raised in the same kind of home.

I can occasionally let it go, too, but I don't like it lol.

And two more years...I'm jealous!!
 Quoting: Anonymous-Girl

Well, it's not a given, I've got an appointment with a financial dude next month. I expect to come out of there crying about the actual reality.

It's SUPER hard to let it go (the clean freaks we grew up with, and rightly so in a way, the cleaner and less cluttered my environment is, the better I breath it seems).

I drive Mr. Wonderful crazy when company is coming. Why? Because this house is not kept up the way my mother kept up her house!!!!!

gaah
 Quoting: ~ hannah~

Ohh Well good luck!! Hope you get some good news on that front!

Yes, it is. I can't do clutter and mess. It makes me feel "off."

Ok, you need to know that the only thing that controls that subconscious is you.
You can change that message.
You have to stop those thoughts. When they come you have to say NO, push them away and change the message.
Find a message that is positive. Repeat it frequently to yourself.
Music and lyrics can work for some people. Find a theme song for this moment in your life.
Find something to replace those negative thoughts.
You get enough shit from other people, you don't need to hear it from your own brain!

And I actually popped into this thread to say that I've been doing the dishes (and drying and putting away) before bed.
And making my bed in the morning.
Thanks everyone for giving me motivation! cool2

I put off the worst stuff till the end of the day generally and then have no time left to do it. Then repeat the cycle the next day...When I absolutely have to or I'm feeling physically well I attack the big stuff. I have adrenal issues and other health issues. Life is hard.

Do important phone calls between 10-11:30 or 2-3:30. More likely to get someone on the line then.

People always call an office first thing in the morning and they are most likely to be in a cue or hit voicemail.

~Country Folks Can Survive!!! ~ Women Bow Hunters!

~Loyalty to the Country Always, Loyalty to the Government when it deserves it.~ Mark Twain

I never had much faith in leaders. I am willing to be charged with almost anything, rather than to be charged with being a leader. I am suspicious of leaders, and especially of intellectual variety. Give me the rank and rifle every day in the week. If you go to the city of Washington, and you examine the pages of The Congressional Directory, you will find that almost all of those corporation lawyers, and cowardly politicians, members of congress, and mis-representatives of the masses --you will find that almost all of them claim , in glowing terms, that they have risen from the ranks to places of eminence and distinction. I am very glad I cannot make that claim for myself. I would be ashamed to admit I had risen from the ranks. When I rise it will be WITH the ranks, and not from the ranks.~ Eugene V. Debs
