Re: What Cats Are Really Doing When You Let Them Out
My cat used to live inside at night and out when I went to work. Now she sleeps on the porch all day and chases any strays away from her throne. She'd rather be outside and I'm fine with it. She comes in when it's below 35 or so, follows the dogs inside after their last pee trip at night. She sleeps by the door and meows in the morning to go back out. She's 16 now so it's her life and I'm ok with it. She stays on the porch almost all day, she used to wander around but stayed on my or my next door neighbors porch, she doesn't cross the road...

I'm pretty sure my year old kitteh hates me because I don't let her outside....verysad

I was thinking about maybe getting a large cage, like for a big dog (the biggest one), that I can set outside my back door, so she can at least be outside...but I'm afraid she'll still want to roam beyond those borders.

I also can barely stand the vision in my head I get thinking of her in a cage like that...but maybe she'd be happier outside, even if it is limited.

Seriously...huffy... I wish I knew a pet psychic, so I could talk to my Lil She about why I don't want her to roam, that its for her own safety, and to ask if I should invest in a large cage.

gaah...it's f'n tearing me up, that when she does get right out the back door, she hunkers down to the ground and mews like a lost little kitten, and I have to pry her off the ground to get her back inside. And then she gives me a dirty look.

For the love of God, a cat is an ANIMAL, not a fur-covered baby substitute that you can keep imprisoned! Your poor sad cat!

Please, give her to somebody who understands animals, and who will let her run free, chase the wind, catch mice, roll and pounce in the grass, yes, 'roam.'

A CAGE?! Please, get an insect or something instead. By the way, newsflash, death is not feared by animals the way you fear it. Yes, your cat will die one day. Hopefully while having fun, not aged 12 in your prison.

She was a stray. She sat outside my apt. window three mornings in a row, howling. She could've gone to any other apt. building where I live, but she kept coming back to mine. I opened the door, she came in, and she's been here ever since.

I don't baby her, asswipe. I don't have the money to take her to the vet if/when she were to get hurt.

If she goes out, she might get picked up by animal control. Animals don't roam the streets of the town I live in. It's not allowed.

And I already said how I feel about her being in a cage, so FUCK YOU.

Not afraid of death...in fact, it'd be better than getting reamed by the likes of you.

I was hoping to get some kind of helpful advice after I posted, hoping something good might come from my display.

Fuck you. Fuck you. Fuck you.

hey pay no attention to that idiots reply.

can you get items from amazon shipped to your home? if so go on amazon in the pets area and order the pet stroller it is just like a baby stroller but it has air openings in it and you can take your kitty for a walk anytime or if she will lead on a leash you can walk the cat that way i had a cat i named little bit she lived with me 18 years and passed away 2014 from breast cancer but she went everywhere with me

GLP member ~hannah~ PMed a link to where I can get one of the buggies, and I'm going to....harhar, no way Lil She is going to lead on a leash. I can't even keep a collar on her.

I'm over the idiots on this thread...but as you can see I was not yesterday. Heh, it's not a good idea to poke at me while I'm upset.

My Easter-kitty lived to 17.5 years....hugs

Be aware that COYOTES are all over the suburbs now. I see them walking down the middle of the street in our heavily populated area south of detroit.

We have wild fox here. You'd think it'd be coyotes because I live in the desert, but it's foxes.

It's so weird to be sitting in the car, and a fox runs across the street in front of you. Harhar, I had a moment.

But coyotes walking around Detroit must be a weird one, too, not to mention unsafe for the stray cat....damned

One thing I would recommend for even using the buggy. First get a collar that stays on - or a harness is even better. Second a leash. When you put her in the buggy put the leash on and tether it somewhere in the buggy or on it. Things can happen and you don't want her to be able to run off. I always harness and leash mine before putting her in the carrier and keep the handle where I can stick it on my wrist when taking her in and out.

I've thought about the safety issue.

Next time my son and his girlfriend come over, we'll try to get the collar on her again...and I'm usually not a negative nellie, but I don't see how it's going to go down well.

I will work on changing my attitude, though....tounge at least I'll know it's not my influence making her to freak out.

Heh, I just have to ask: Are you perchance an Aquarian?

If you love something, set it free
If it comes back to you, it's yours
If it doesn't, it never was yours, and never will be

YOU ARE MEAN TO YOUR KITTY.
YOUR KITTY ISN'T A BABY
HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF YOU WERE IMPRISONED INDOORS?
GIVE YOUR KITTY FREEDOM, AND KITTY WILL COME BACK WHEN SHE'S GOOD AND READY
IF SHE DOES, THEN YOU KNOW SHE'S YOURS FOR REAL
RIGHT NOW, SHE'S JUST YOUR PRISONER
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75095310

Fuck you. Asshole.

We're all fucking prisoners here on this planet...if you want to be like that.

Heh, gotta say, I'm thrilled I'm able to say "Fuck you" to those of you responding to me that I'm mean to my cat, and not feel a bit of remorse about that.

Y'all can go fuck yourselves blind as far as I'm concerned.

Good luck! Just be calm, firm and matter of fact about it. Another tip - put her up on the counter where she's your height instead of trying to wrangle on the ground or your lap where she's more in control than you are.

And nope, I'm Sagitarian. :)

I have the perfect table to set her on to try to get the collar on....rockon
