Hearing at end of the month. We shall see how they plead.

They both pleaded 'not guilty'

What I find interesting is that all four of Cosmo DiNardo's victims were described as hard working...even Jimi who just finished his first year of college worked at a local pub. The only non-working piece of crap was Cosmo. I suppose his drug and gun running and burglary/robbery constituted work for him. I would not be surprised if his father grew sick and tired of his fat, lazy, psycho POS son just lazing around at 20 years old eating them out of house and home and demanding more spending money and cut him off. If he had a drug/pill problem, this would have sent him off the deep end as how would he pay for his habit? Hence, his grand scheme to lure these unsuspecting young men and kill them for some pocket change. He is the epitome of evil and I would not be surprised if he gets knocked off in jail or manages to commit suicide. He is a weak excuse for a human being that has been coddled his entire life by his mother and he will not adjust well to prison. It is only a matter of time.

Wait - how is it possible for CD to plead not guilty? He's already confessed. Or is this the schizophrenia card?

Probably.

And he will claim he confessed under duress, was confused by the big bad cops and was forced to sign a document that wasn't true. blahblah

This guy will try anything now. He's coming off the drugs and it's hitting him that his spoiled rotten life is over.

You find blaming the mother for their evil children is a way of excusing the illness?

Cosmo's sick isn't the kind that you can pin on the parents.

I don't think putting him in a military academy would have helped him.

I don't think putting him in a seminary would have helped him.

Obviously a lifetime of Catholic school didn't help either. But, correct me if I'm wrong...he committed murder with his mother's 357 magnum she kept in the house, he was 20 years old and did not hold down a job, his parents put up $100,000 cash bail to get him out of jail on the weapons charge. Seems to me he was coddled by them. He certainly was not held to a healthy standard such as work a part time job while in high school, learn the value of your labor and a dollar. Do something constructive with your life besides by $150 Nike sneakers and take pictures of them and put photos up of your fat self holding weapons to intimidate your peers.

I do think his parents are selfish and ignorant to believe a sick person can function in society. Which brings me to the conclusion, he wasn't psychologically cooperative enough to have a job or friends.

I'd guess he made bail bc his family saved that much money by not having him in the right treatment facility.

But it's up to Cosmo to take his meds. It's up to his parents to keep their eyes open if he is in their care.

They failed, but not from holding him to a 'healthy standard' but by not recognizing he isn't capable of functioning within society.

And, who was his doctor? Shouldn't they be held accountable for not testing his disease's progress?

That's part of the problem. There's not much the parents can do legally. He's not a minor. It would then fall into the hands of the doctors to hold him, and they tend not to do that for long periods of time - at least not anymore.

I also place some blame on law enforcement. They knew he was getting out of hand, and didn't do anything about it. He had over 30 contacts with them and they did squat.

They will claim that he didn't commit a crime that would warrant arrest. I'm thinking that they just didn't investigate enough.

How many contacts with them does it take for them to look a little deeper?

It's a fine line. Do we want to police state that will lock someone up immediately, guilty or not. Or lock someone up for a possible future crime? I don't think we want to go down that road. However, that opens up the possibility of psychos falling through the cracks and turning into killers.

This is where communities used to get involved. Now everyone just wants to be snarky on Facebook.

Its almost a necessity to plead not guilty at the first arraignment, happens all the time, as evidence hasn't been shown yet.

In order for them to get a "fair trial" and be presumed innocent......

Nothing new besides just about anyone with common sense and knowledge of kids and the opiate problem here, tossing around the typical "I heard", and "my friend says"...Uncle intel, basically.

It will be interesting to see how this unfolds. Rachel may be able to give us more info, as she's got family local and who knows the D's. The family is prominent and would have strong connections throughout all levels of the local government, with Dad being on the anti-Drug board and in construction (permits, etc.).

I am sure this kid's schizophrenia has a small influence in the matter - perhaps he's convinced he's Tony Soprano or something of the sort, but in all likelihood it's 90% because he's a psychopath.

I feel for his parents. Yes, he was apparently coddled - but they are going to lose everything they've worked to build because of their son. I also feel for his sister. What a nightmare she's going to have to live through! People are horrible and heartless. Some of the crap that was thrown around on this thread fell into that category, so imagine what people will say about her/to her.

Even after his confession, with his lawyer by his side, He's going to say the other kid did the shooting and the other guy is going to say CD did the shooting.

That's why the not guilty plea.

I think CD did the shooting and enjoyed it.
