Who created general theory of relativity, published in 1916?
As per the work of several historians of science in the last 30 years, GTR has at least FOUR FATHERS, but Eistein got all the credits for it, even when his paper was presented 15 days AFTER his tutor Hilbert's presentation, on Nov. 20th 1915. The works were accepted by March 2016.

Hilbert, famous already, didn't want a Leibnitz-Newton like dispute (about the creation of differential calculus) and didn`t go any further.

Major contributors to GTR:

- Marcel Grossmann, a mathematician friend of Einstein’s from school who coauthored on the first several papers on early forms of the new theory of gravity.
Einstein told Grossmann7: “You must help me, or else I'll go crazy.”

- Michele Besso (an engineer and another of Einstein’s school friends). Einstein asked Besso in 1913 to investigate whether the Entwurf theory could account for the missing 43˝ per century for Mercury's perihelion. Besso contributed significantly to the use of Entwurf field equations for a rotating coordinate system.

- Adriaan Fokker, a student of Lorentz. Einstein asked him to reformulate the Nordström theory using the same kind of mathematics that he and Grossmann had used to formulate the Entwurf theory.

- David Hilbert: Mathematician (genius). He was a BIG SHOT
and published a CORRECT GTR 15 days before
Einstein.

- Emmy Noether: Mathematician, from Hilbert's school.

The cases of Hilbert and Noether are interesting enough to dwell on. In the Spring of 1915, Hilbert invited Einstein to give some lectures at the university at Göttingen, which had become the center of mathematics in Germany and perhaps in the whole Western world.

Hilbert did send off a manuscript with the correct, final field equations that comprised the fundamental content of the theory of general relativity. And he did so almost simultaneously with Einstein’s public presentation of these equations.

Hilbert's quote: “Every boy in the streets of Göttingen understands more about four-dimensional geometry than Einstein.

There is plenty more evidences of Einstein's almost complete lack of understanding of mathematics, as he teamed ALL OF HIS LIFE with gifted scientists, starting with his gf Mileva Maric from 1896 up to 1908, his former teacher Minkowski (after college) and SO MANY OTHERS.

The Modus Operandi of Eistein was constant, including 1923 work with Bose and 1935 work with Boris Podolsky, Nathan Rosen and Erwin Schrodinger (EPR Paradox or "spooky action at distance").

Final work was to take credit of Szilard works with A-Bomb is his famous letter from 1939 to FDR.

Always a lazy dog, as one of his teachers called him.

Re: Who created general theory of relativity, published in 1916?
You forgot many others.

Einstein was a man of ideas, not a mathematician. He always needed help (100%) to publish his papers.

Regarding 1905 papers, his wife appeared as co-author with him at the presentation. Her name was erased after, for the final publication, as she hadn't an academical degree. She was denied it.

Find out more looking for "Einstein notes college". There are diploma pics for both, and how they did every year at college.

Regarding relativity, Hilbert pre-published a complet and mathematical correct solution 15 days before Al, in 1915.

Funny thing is that both accused each other of plagiarism, even when Einstein knew squat about non-euclidian math, and Hilbert was beyond that. He founded an School that was the center of math universe in 1908. Go figure.

Both antagonized on several matters, specially "origin by blood". Search about it.

There is plenty info in the Web. You only have to know HOW to search it, looking for a primary source.

I know the history of Einstein and his wife by the way, why do they say it secret when it not? Anyway, I did find it horrible that his teacher when he was young called him stupid or to that effect, having different mind does not make you stupid, which I have had to tell young boys because of the problems they had that other did not. Now, Einstein had one thing special about him, he knew God was in control, and he knew thing were funny.

So, you picked a good one. I did not know about the other help only about his wife. Now if I did something or found something or idea, if it could help someone, I would give it, what is fame worth nothing, but kindness is, that all you need is a kind heart and laughter.

God gave us the laugh, he gave us the tears, and he must have them himself or we would not be in his image. We are in his image. That is general form with a body.

Now, Einstein is a great subject, and I have some idea about the other one you spoke off, but not with reference to Einstein, it will come back to me.
Sorry I got a headache

Today I went to the core of this subject, digging very deeply in the lost years (1909-1915) and downloaded also a paper with a revision of the GTR, written by a scientist-historian circa 1935.

Always with a friend around, Einstein made three steps to develop "his" 1916 paper wich, by the way, was revisited and republishe two more times until the final version in 1919.

To quoute Einstein by 1915: "I always mocked the exagerated complexity of non-euclidean geometry, tensors and the job of people like Riemann, Minkowsky (his former teacher, who blasted him as an ignorant) and others. Now THAT I LEARNED IT I have a great respect for these men"

Definitively, GTR had three fathers besides Einstein.

The most important (not relevant) was his "friend" Marcel Grossmann, with wich he CO-AUTHORED several papers approaching the first TWO KEY FACTORS between 1909 and 1914.

Minkowski provided the SECOND KEY factor (math tool) by 1914 and, finally, Hilbert provided the MOST DIFFICULT TOOL (The Field Equation). He didn't gave it directly, as he WAS WORKING on it when he invited Einstein to give a lecture at hid advanced math school (kind of MIT) by 1915. As always, Einstein told Hilbert his problem with the Field Fuction, subject that Hilbert was already solved. Einsteins stayed for a week there, and RUN to meet with his friend to complete the early version of GTR, wich was publishes months later.

Being aware of that, Hilbert presented his papers with the COMPLETE GTR 15 days BEFORE Einstein (Nov. 20th. 1915).

By UNKNOWN circumstances, Hilbert withdraw his paper one month before Einstein's job was published it in March 1916.

A bitter fight between both relevant scientists arose with cross accussations of plagiarism! As if Hilbert needed that.

Hilbert said than the Newton-Leibnitz fight about invention of differential calculus had put enough shame on science, and that he didn't needed to make another one, due to his prestige as mathematician. Only added that even a kid on the street knew more about four dimensional geometry than Einstein.

Problem solved to me: TPTB selected and promoted Einstein and ERASED almost any trace of the history behind GTR.

Then, by 1919, MSM took the job to make him the pop star of science, or the posterchild. The end.

Re: Who created general theory of relativity, published in 1916?
Einstein said about GTR:

"Never had to work so hard on anything like with this theory for seven years"

Of course he didn't. At every position offered as a professor, he conditioned it with two things:

- Never have to make experimental physics (He sucked at it)
- Never have to TEACH (afraid of exposing himself as a fraud)

This covers the years between 1909 and 1952, three countries and FOUR universities.

He was paid only to.....THINK? or STEAL? or BOTH?

That is because most people on this forum do not know the difference between special and general relativity nor do they understand the impacts that the theory of general relativity has on quantum mechanics.
