If you are a woman, wait till your 30's. Nail some guy 10 years older than you who has never been married before.

That way there will be a lot more to steal when you divorce.

The girl should be at least 6 years old.
You can bed her when she is 9.

Says so in the holy book.

Get married early. WAIT to have kids.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 62961056

^^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^

The good ones are GONE by 30 - best ones before that...you will be stuck with leftovers - divorced with kids- or heartbroken and won't ever trust again

College student don't realize it is EXTREMELY difficult to meet good potential mates after you get out ...work limits your movement and ability to meet your own age...

Date 2-3 years before marriage - then wait 2-3 years for kids. Sorts out the craziest and laziest before kids exposed to them .

Good luck

Marry later.

Get established.

Set up a family Trust with other family members BEFORE marriage.

Put any large purchases into the name of the Trust... House, properties, fat stacks, etc..

Once married, your spouse could / should be added to the Trust as an individual beneficiary along with the others.

In the event of divorce / shakedown, there is no chance you will be cleaned out.

If you ultimately establish a high net worth, structure the Trust so that the bulk of
the wealth stays in your personal family tree. For instance, some goes to your spouse,
but the bulk goes to your son or daughter

Failure to do so enables the bulk to shift to your spouses side of the family.

Drop a few grand and hire a top notch estate attorney BEFORE MARRIAGE.

Have them help you structure things so that if shit goes sideways, your assets are protected.

NEVER FORGET that anything you earn / purchase AFTER marriage belongs to both of you, so get your
big shit purchased BEFORE you marry.

Cold and crafty? Perhaps......

Necessary in this day and age? Absolutely.

Get married and have kids when you're in your early 20's. You'll be young, healthy and fertile with a lower risk of birth defects occurring.

Also, your parents will still be reasonably young and your grandparents will likely still be alive. Why rob your kids of a chance to know their grandparents and great grandparents because you put off having children for too long?

AT least 30, when you've done partying, and have started on buying your home.

Re: When is it better to get married, in your early 20s, or in your early to mid 30s?
Doesn't matter, as long as you marry a woman who is on your same level career and income wise.

The people who wine on forums that divorce is horrible and they have to pay their ex wife hundreds of dollars a month are in that place because they married a loser woman who had no career or wanted to be a stay home mother.

If you are a professional, then marry another professional. If you make minimum wage, marry a woman who also makes minimum. Men start destroying their life when a blue collar man who makes 50,000 a year marries a jobless woman simply because she is good looking. This is the path of self destruction for that man, and he will get what he signed up for when in family court.

A smart man marries a woman on the same professional level as he is, then if they divorce then the kids go to the mom half the time and to the dad half the time and nobody has to pay each other.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74671388

Obviously you've never made more than $50,000 a year and don't know what you're writing about.

If you start a business and become successful you will have to buy half your company back from your ex-wife who may be a professional, or she may have floated around in your pool while you built the business, doesn't matter. After 15 years the man will pay alimony for life in most states.

I got married at 18, wife was 21.
We met when we were 16 and 18.
Been married 36 years.
Ups and downs along the way.
But still in Love.
It's really if you can get over the bad little things and
appreciate the good ones.

Take heed, wise advice.

23 years here this year, we've been separated a couple times, had our ups and downs.

Marriage is different for everyone, if I had to give one piece of advice it would be-

Learn to listen, tomorrow is a new day, and nothing last forever unless you want it to, and that goes for both love and hatred.

Most here are going to say never but that's bull shit. If you find a good woman who will support you like you support her, one with morals, who believes in God, is willing to put up with you through the good and bad, one you trust with your heart and life. Marry her ass fast, there's very few of them left in the US.

Re: When is it better to get married, in your early 20s, or in your early to mid 30s?
i really believe it is silly for people to put of child rearing for any reason.

have your children young (if you can) while you and your spouse are in the height of your health. you will be giving them the strongest gift.

however, don't forget that people of all ages get married. i remember the wedding of my widowed grandfather at 65 ish.

in general, you get married when you find the right person. and not an instant before.

for the poster who said marry a professional, i made more money that my husband when we married. over time we slowly weened off my salary and i became a stay-at-home. hubs got 2 advanced degrees because i was there to keep the home lights burning and has had a very good career. we are very happy with the way our lives have gone.

i would say marry a person you ADMIRE. a person with similar background, morals, work ethic and probs born in the same decade.
 Quoting: queenbee 72138947

come on queenbee..don't give us fake feminist talk .Women marry for sex and free money.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75241240

i'm the opposite of a feminist... i think because my mother was one of the first working moms in my neighborhood and i realized at 12 years old that women CAN'T have it all.

it is a good question: why marry

the answer is, you are choosing a partner for life. yin and yang, two heads better than one. someone who puts you first.

if you don't want a partner for life, if you want to be a "lone wolf" don't get married.

if you want to build a tribe, get married.
