regardless she Paid for a Service and didn't receive it. airlines pull this crap all the time and get away with robbing customers like this. because she has a LARGE audience she was able to get a refund but rest assured, the airlines are NOT in the habit of refunding unless forced.

I agree with you. But from what I've found on this incident, it sounds like this may have been an extenuating circumstance, i.e. a death in the family of the other passenger. But (like you said) people pay for a service. And they should get that service unless they are copiously compensated.

This used to not be a problem with the airlines. Now their margins are so paper thin, they have to load the planes to capacity to be profitable.

The entire planet and society as a whole are rapidly imploding yet Ann Coulter's upgrade fees are news headlines???
