The overflow spillway had pebbles coming out of the concrete even back then. I was actually very surprised it held. I lived next to the Thompson Flat Cemetery for a few years, it is down the canyon, just beyond the tracks. So close that if it had a catastrophic failure all I would have heard was a loud crashing sound and seen a wall of water 50 foot deep and that would have been it.
