Google Chrome facing MAJOR competition after rival firefox posts staggering speed tests But an upcoming version of one browser could soon be giving Google Chrome stiff competition, and reason for users to crossover. Google Chrome has a bit of a reputation of being a resource hog, and Firefox are aiming to hit their big rivals where it hurts. Mozilla developer Dietrich Ayala has been putting an upcoming build through its paces, and outlined the speed tests on his website. His test revolved around launching a browser with 1,691 tabs open. The current build - browser 54 - took over four minutes to open with this huge amount of tabs. Previous build, Firefox 51, took almost eight minutes to open a browser with 1,691 tabs open. But Firefox 55 - currently in beta testing - and build 56 made have huge strides in this area. [ link to www.express.co.uk (secure)] |
