well scientists also said that the earth itself was smaller and layer built up over and over the prior ones. it's a cycle. the one we are currently on will end eventually and have to start over. this is how and why when we dig down we (our scientists) keep discovering stuff. like technology that wasn't supposed to have existed thousands of years ago or whole cities buried etc etc... volcanoes take care of that and it ain't CO2 produced by cars and methane from cow farts that triggers volcanoes. the sun is... and the volcanoes are angry now. our planet is heating up and one of the side effects is wait for it.. ice melting....

Maybe Antarctica is trying to get back to normal after man put snow and ice on it after the first man set foot on it a drew maps without snow back hundreds of years ago on their voyages. The writer at Scientific American is dishonest. He's talking about the modern meteorological record, which only goes back 140 years. Climatologists use the climatological record, which goes way back. 140 years is nothing in climatology.

Global Warming is caused by the burning of fossil fuels which is a human endeavor. Traveling through the Milky Way does not cause an increase in co2. Back in the 1980tys co2 was under 200ppm, now it's over 400ppm. THE SCIENCE IS CLEAR! This is the cause of global warming. Hi Goofy, the one good thing about things that float, and especially ice, is that ice melts, and becomes more water within the ocean's of the planet.

From a volume perspective, yes, it adds some volume to the liquid water mass. (sux if you're a low laying island)

But, we're also spinning, and the waters are held in place, pretty much as they have been for millions of years in the same spaces.

The Earth bulges at the centre, which is a centrifugal action/force.

But, just as when you were a kid, on a playground merri-go-round, when you redistribute the weight, something happens, doesnt it? You go faster or slower. This is due to where the mass lays on the spinning axis.

More bulk around the girth of the planet, and she'll start slowing down. Not a great deal, but a little. It's a closed system after all.

What does a slower spin do? Well, it'll change the length of a day, wont it? We're all so attuned to the Earth's cycles (or used to be) via. our SCN region of our brains. Its a direct link to the planet, and the Schumann resonance, and effects our circadian rhythms. Everything living's rhythms.

So melting ice, will eventually effect a change in Schumann resonance.

But that's thinking of the Earth as a closed system, just by itself. In the context of our solar system, and the dynamics of it, a slower rotating Earth, on it's playground merri-go-round around the Sun, will move more slowly in it's orbit. And moving more slowly will change the orbit distance from the Sun.

Will we move out or in?

That isnt even taking into account the moon, or other elements in space that effect all this, who also no doubt have things going on.

Are these things being deliberately actioned? Geo Engineering on a Solar system level?

You're not going to be able to blame "glacial rebound" for southern Florida being underwater. 1.5mm per year of sinking is obliterated by sea level rise that is more than twice as fast and accelerating. With another three feet within 80 years Miami will be gone and it won't be because of glacial rebound.
