Like you OP I have found it almost impossible to meet women worth asking out ... though I have been on a few dates, only a few, in the 12 years since my separation, one of which was ready to get married after knowing her 4 weeks and going out 5 times (YIKES! YIKES!! YIKES!!!)

The pool of available women I run into is exceptionally small, and virtually all of those are either land whales, have extreme mental issues (why they are divorced imo), or if they have anything on the ball at all are only into the good looking or upper middle class on up guys (the opposite of me).

Unlike you however my marriage was so bad I have little desire to ever venture down that marriage road again ... so the fact that I am persona non-grata to the few women who might be worth dating almost never bothers me (though about once a year I do get down about the issue).

I will note that one woman I know who is at best a 4.5 on the looks scale was recently telling me that in 5 months on Match she had more than 200 guys who had written her wanting to get to know her and did go on 15 dates (guys paid obviously) and many more "meetings" for coffee. For older women, IF they are not a land whale (she is NOT, has an extra 40# but not a land whale ... and just very average looking), there are lots and lots of desperate guys out there. There is absolutely no need for a woman to go chasing a guy ... too many guys chasing them and giving them a big ego about how attractive they are.

If you really want to get married and are having no success ... then you DO need to lower your standards and start considering the Land Whales. Even those are being chased from what I see, but there are not nearly as many guys chasing them as are chasing the average looking women.

(haven't been on a date in years now ... and not sure I will ever be on another one. WHAT does a woman bring into the life of an older middle age male except grief and a high level of risk? [both financial and to one's freedom - yep false Domestic Violence charges are very commonly made by the crazy ones ... and unfortunately when one is older as a percentage of the pool of single women out there there ARE a lot of crazies])

Hang in there, op. Marriage is a lot of work at different times but it's also one of the best gifts one could ever have in life. I thought about divorce once during some tough times, but then I said fuck no, we didn't get this far to let everything fall apart. Now we're on top of the mountain, literally.

I'm glad I never left, I'd be feeling the same way but I'd never want to date again. One marriage is all I want. No one else could ever measure up to what me and my spouse have together.

OP, as a female, I think it's a GOOD thing you are not jumping into another relationship and don't just substitute one woman for another.

That means you are sincere and that is more desirable than some man whore player, believe me. Don't listen to the men, there is some woman out there who will appreciate you, just got to put yourself out there, but don't change your character.

OP maybe you are still in love with your ex wife? 8 years is a long time to stay single, it sounds like no woman after ever comes close to your ex wife. Maybe she is feeling the same? Do you keep in touch with her?

And don't feel bad about ex girlfriends not responding to your messages, if they are married or have boyfriends, they are doing the right thing by ignoring old flames, nothing good ever comes of that nonsense, people feel flattered you reach out, but the novelty wears off and most people who are happily married will never risk hurting the one they love by exchanging hellos in emails or texts.

Get a hobby. Enjoy life. Volunteer.
