Question: Are Democrats Socialists? | |

The average American has no clue how extremely fast the non-working welfare class is growing, intentionally by design. Non-working, unmarried women are being paid well to do nothing more than have babies, who in turn do the same. This is destroying our country more than anything. This is also one of the root cause of illegal immigration. Cubans can literally take a raft over here, refuse to work, have babies, and get paid well to do so. Increasing taxes and bigger government also = socialism. |

I dont support the Republicans either because they generally do nothing about it, but the liberals are far worse. We need a new party like that which Ron Paul endorses, but that isnt going to happen with the current power structures in place. |

Quoting: Rontus Mek'orasIn my old country socialists like to nationalize industry, get rid of private property and use force to abolish things like religion. I watch Democrats in power and they do no such thing. They are capitalists. Please be explaining how democrats are socialists. Our liberals aren't socialists. Socialism is considered a fringe idea, and generally shunned by all American politicians. The Right has this vision of America as a pure laissez-faire nation. The role of the government is minimal and centered around activities that encourage corporate growth (often to the detriment of workers and the environment) and the military. Some of them don't even want public schools. Also, the Republican party currently has strong ties to Christianity, especially southern Baptists. Other typical platforms: pro death penalty, pro war, pro executive power, pro spying, pro torture, anti environment, pro business, anti immigrant, anti homosexual, vote no on almost all tax increases regardless of necessity. Our Left is what would be considered centrist in most European countries. They traditionally support environmentalism, rights of oppressed minorities, public schools, and our welfare program. They agree that capitalism is good, but they believe it is important to balance economic growth with the environment and the distribution of wealth. They lack power for several reasons. First, they believe in the Constitution more than the Bible, and this tends to make them unpopular with religious voters. Second, they don't like deficit spending or cutting social programs, so they are associated with higher taxes. Third, they're almost as corrupt as the Republicans they oppose. Other typical platforms: the exact opposite of the Republicans. |

They advocate a government run by the people. A republican advocates a government run by an official, or select few officials. I am a Liberal Democratic Socialistic Communist, myself. Liberalism - a philosophy advocating liberty and equal rights Democracy - a philosophy advocating a government run by the people Socialism - a philosophy advocating public ownership of production and distribution based on an individual's contribution Communism - a philosophy advocating public ownership of production and distribution based upon an individual's need Those who build the subsidized housing, and provide the necessities, will be paid, by the government, in the form of money. This money can be used to buy goods, at government owned businesses, which are supported by government owned resources, and more government paid employees. If you don't want to work, or cannot, you do not have to. However, you are only going to be able to enjoy the basic standard of living. No flat screen tv. No sports car. Under this system, people will WANT to work, and further the bettering of humanity.
