TOBACCO SEED

This is an excellent little thread by Krysalis from earlier this year.

Starting and Growing Tobacco From Seeds......

Thread: Starting and Growing Tobacco from Seeds. New Hope Seed Company: Bringing back old tobacco varities from days gone by. No hybrids... No GMO's

With a link to a to an online Tobacco seed company.
The New Hope Seed Company.

[link to www.newhopeseed.com]

People will be craving tobacco and you would have several good post breakdown business opportunities here. (1) Grow and cure the whole product. (2) Grow the plants in small pots and sell them on the local market. You would also need to find a photocopier and print off an instruction leaflet.

I have grown tobacco myself, it is not all that different than tomatoes which are a close plant relative.

Re: Your Last Ever Supermarket Shopping Spree
As for storing water in garbage bags, or bin liners, many of them are treated with pesticides, so it would be good to know what you're using.

What you said about pesticides in plastic bin liners is a bummer. Does anyone have any suggestions about cheap emergency water storage? I guess you could still use bin liners etc for cleaning/toilet flushing
water.

Check Craigslist for waterbeds - the liners are designed to hold a large amount of water for a long time. It can be purified for drinking when needed.

BLOW UP WADING POOLS. But they would need a cover to keep the water clean. Best to store in the garage if practicable, or at any rate in the shade.

Re: Your Last Ever Supermarket Shopping Spree
OK here's the scene. Early one weekend morning your wife/girlfriend is driving you home, totally spaced out after a good all nighter. Suddenly the hard rock band is replaced by what sounds like amateur night on GLP radio, with excited talk of massive artillery bombardments and surprise infantry attacks throughout the Middle East. You switch it off because it is so obviously stupid fucking college kids messing around with their dads ham radio equipment, trying to wind people up. Half a minute later, to your surprise the silly bitch suddenly pulls into a gas station and announces that she is going to top up the tank, even though you still have a 1/4 tank of gas left, which will comfortably last you until next pay-day. Obviously she got suckered in by that stupid radio hoax. You mutter something about H.G. Wells and the War of the Worlds radio show, but you know from experience that there is no arguing with her when she gets one of her sudden whims, so you leave it at that. With the last of her money she sensibly buys a hotdog and cup of coffee and helps herself to five or six hundred of those little packets of creamer, sugar, ketchup and other stuff.

While she's in there powdering her *%@#& nose a massive hairy biker type suddenly thrusts his head and fist in through the passenger window and threatens to make interesting sculptural rearrangements to your face if you don't move your shittey little Ford Fiesta from in front of the gas pump…pronto. Fortunately for you she gets back in time to rescue you from your predicament, even if the @*&#% selfish bitch only bought a cup of coffee and a hotdog for herself. You look back as she exits the gas station and to your surprise there is chaos behind you. A couple of homies in a low rider slipped into your just vacated space, before the hairy biker type could move his SUV and he's breaking out his riot gun, while they are searching under the seats for their handguns. There's about a dozen other vehicles behind them and some ding-dong in a big truck is pushing an old ladies Cadillac away from a pump on the other island. The gas line in the Cadillac gets stuck, stretches, then breaks, spilling fuel all over the place and the scene gets cut off by a bend in the road, just as it was starting to get interesting.

Reality quickly sets in and you frantically start hopping from station to station on the radio. While she gets all snotty with you and tells you that, "you would know all this if you weren't always going round in a #*&%@ drugged out coma". Then she cruelly twists the knife in the wound by saying that you acted like a useless wimp in front of that hairy biker type. A few hundred yards ahead you idly notice that the local budget priced supermarket is just opening up for the day and already there is a line forming in front of the ATM. "Not that it matters because all of our cards are maxed out anyway", you think gloomily.

But Alleluia! Glory Be! You suddenly realise that here is your chance to redeem yourself in the eyes of your better half. Because you still have that $300 (£150 UK) in your wallet that you definitely promised to give to your landlord, to pay off some of your rent arrears…because he never turned up before you both left the house early yesterday evening!

The next time that you visit a supermarket you will either run the risk of being shot as a looter. Or have to make your way past pimply faced youths in National Guard uniforms, on the one day a week that you have been allocated to do your rationed weekly shopping. So what are you going to do. Lay in a pile of cheap booze n' chips n' dip to Surf the Apocalypse? Or use this last chance that you will ever get, to stock up wisely?
 Quoting: 19.47 6933

I would use that money for gas to get as far away from cities as possible, maybe stop by a smaller store to buy some veggie seeds and small things like some matches or lighters, fishing hooks and bait, something to carry water in and some candy bars and book it home get my gun and ammon, sleeping bag, tent, blanket some freeze dried food i had already stored an emergency radio and then get the heck of out there pronto.

grizzy 749437,

Here is a link to the sausagemaker who are selling it over the net for $19.99 for 5 pounds.

Another way to find it locally might be to ask local butchers. But I have a feeling that it might not be as good as it seems. I am going by instinct.

IE: Honey is best. Sugar is second best. Artificial sweeteners...

If you see my reasoning. Would anyone with experience on this subject like to comment?

Also, get yourself some entertainment. Games that don't require elec, books if you like to read. (amazon, your local used book store.) Art supplies, beads whatever.

The gates of hell are opening, and I have seen firsthand what will begin happening to more and more of you everyday.

I will not get into background info but here goes
clawlike footprint on her bedroom floor that looks reptil. (floors are concrete)
Doors are open repeatedly when she comes home from work.
The entire house smelt like a cross between sulphur and a musty attic yesterday, different animals come into her front yard, stand there and stare at her. (most lately is a large mule deer buck and they are about the jumpiest animals on the planet. She lives next to a national forest.)
And her bathroom door looks like it has gotten shorter as in almost have to duck to get thru it and I am not that tall.
I made her a necklace with a tiny silver cross and a silver St Benedicts medal that she always wears and the last two days she suddenly won't wear it. Came home from work at 3:30pm, took the lecklace off, ignored her dogs won't call me or anyone else, won't answer the phone and then passes out. Its really starting to get to her.
We have been friends for 16 years, she has lived in this house for nearly 12, it officially gone off the charts.

Anyway I hope that you enjoy this thread. If so could you please give it a bump back to page 1 every now and then, so that other people can get a chance to see it. Thanks 9teen.47

IMHO, unless you've already been trained in the military or lived in extremely remote places, such as Alaska, wherein you have to have the background and ENDURANCE to survive horrific conditions, you're not going to make it.

You're looking at physical preparation, OP, which is fine. But it's the mental preparation and experience that's going to get you through.

FEAR will kill a man quicker than a bullet.

We're talking an extreme lifestyle change for most Americans and being quite comfortable for the most part of their lives, they're not going to take doing without easily.

TPTB are planning for 30 years of riots. That'll take one hell of a lot of shopping - unless you are entirely self-sufficient and have an huge-ass hidden armory. Even so, will you freak out when conforted by the hungry and desperate mobs?

Just saying....

:z3: Hi 787970,

To be honest I am thinking more in terms of the first 6 months or so. And as a Christian I am hoping that we will be ruptured before then. But we are all gonna have to die sometime, it's just that I would like to have some food in my belly if I can manage it. And I am thinking that folks should do what they can and are capable of.

But even if you had the where with all and lived in the far North there will be no escaping it. The other point is that TPTB might think that they are going to escape Scot free in their nuclear bunkers, backed by the power of the state. But the Lord will seek them out, they shall not escape the fate that they have planned for the rest of us.

Basically this illustrated Chick tract, to my mind at least, gives an accurate generalised picture of what is coming. HERE HE COMES!...

Buy raw sea salt. It naturally contains anywhere from 90 to over a hundred essential minerals that regular iodized table salt does not (of course you will also need to ensure a natural source of iodine which sea salt does not have).

I plead guilty as charged. And I'm saying the same thing now because anyone with eyes to see can realise that although we have been through many crisis in the last few years that always seem to die away. Yet at the same time they always seem to be coming back, and the bible makes it quite clear that one of these days it will all blow up in our faces.

We are headed into very dangerous times over these next few months and for those of you who have ignored all the warnings I have very little sympathy. Never the less you may have a week or two to get some basics in. For those of you who have made a start I'd strongly recommend that you consider adding to your stockpile.

In particular get plenty of water containers and fill them up if you have storage room. I understand that it can be difficult if you only have a small place. Then get the containers and fill them up the minute that trouble starts. You really don't want to be involved with panic buying.

PS: Try to keep your gas tank ¾ full at all times and buy a locking gas cap.
