LEGION, FOR THERE ARE MANY User ID: 186213 United States 04/04/2007 09:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I did the ultimate quick-and-dirty I believe, just to check this out. A regular old 2 megapix cameraphone (SE), just holding two sheets of dark 35mm negatives in front of the lens. It worked quite ok, you can "see" a hot frying pan for instance (ok... not that exciting perhaps but anyway). Much less success with my much better digital cams. Quoting: LeopoldI just completed making my Logitech webcam to see infrared. I only used one piece of negative film filter, but I am able to see the light from my tv remote shine on things. Kinda neat I think. About to add another piece of filter and see how much difference it makes. Is there a way to make infared LEDs place around the camera to illuminate the dark rooms at night? There are some very inexpensive webcams with IR-capability as well, like $10. The type of webcams I'm thinking of has an array of IR LEDs around the lens for invisible illumination. I guess there is no filter in it to block IR then... it would be too stupid, wouldn't it? :) I'm picking up one of those tomorrow for evaluation. /L I have two, their worth the money. It picks up both visible and infrared during daylight. But during total darkness there is about 15 foot range in the infrared. The six illuminators look like their NOT on , but they are. I used my altered camera cell phone and indeed confirmed those LEDS are on I also used my infrared flashlight which extends the range to about 50-100 feet...........LEGION |

The stuff Trevor James Constable was photographing on ir film is astounding, if you're not familiar with him or his work do a google, very fascinating stuff. A camera flash gives off an array of light spectrum including Uv and Ir if i'm not mistaken. Thats the light you see bouncing off and illuminating the spook orbs, to prove it to yourself go do a few shots with a flash camera late at night in a cemetary. |

Thanks for the reply, but I wasn't asking for proof I've been photographing orbs for years. It was rather, just a question as to why the orbs are fairly easy to photograph & something like the things Trevor James Constable photographed one needs ir film or other ir equipment. |

I was looking at some US five dollar bills and they are totally blank on one side. Must be a way of tracking money or some sort real money ID. Now I am checking everything out with this cam. My veins in my arms are bright and i dont even see em without the cam. I can see my pc speakers although I cant see em without. Now I need to do my digital camera so I can go outside and set it up to see ufo's perhaps..lol |

Quoting: LeopoldThe ad showed a drawing of a guy wearing the glasses looking thru a girls clothes. IR lenses? I don't see how this can be possible unless you use some kind of thermal imaging device. /L Those "X-RAY Specs" actually used BIRD FEATHERS! Each lens in the spec was a made of two pieces of cardboard that sandwiched a black bird feather, and a hole in the center of the sandwich to peer out of. The effect was based on the interference pattern that the feather made on light passing through the hole. So your bare arm, for instance, would appear as a thinner "bone" with a faint outline of "flesh" surrounding it. A totally lame party gag and not at all real IR or UV vision. But a cool thing for kids! |

I use to work in one and it's the only time in my life that I heard unexplainable noises like chairs being dragged across the floor and it was 4 in the morning and I'm 100% sure i saw the only (living) person there. I told a friend about it and she said that she too has heard of similar tales and she shared a story with me about a friend of hers that once placed a tape recorder in their church at night and the next day they listen to it and heard some pretty weird stuff. I don't like talking about this stuff because frankly, it gives me the Hibbie jibbies! |

Leopold User ID: 205264 Sweden 04/05/2007 10:39 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Specs: clip-on fastening to the monitor, manual focus, VGA resolution and quite ok pictue quality and framerate. Not very much noise for such a cheap cam, color reproduction could be better though but is very acceptable. I suspect it could have something to do with an assumed lack of an IR blocking filter in the camera. I couldn't get the built-in microphone to work with the supplied driver but who cares. Price: $15. Over to what matters in this thread! It has an array of six IR LEDS that activate in low light conditions down to total darkness. The IR illumination isn't very strong but it works ok on short distances. The IR sensitivity appears to be stellar! In normal room daylight conditions, I checked with two pieces of "black" colour negatives in order to block out all visible light. It worked perfectly, I get an excellent black&white rendering of the parts of the IR-spectrum it captures. Faces looks really weird and spooky, it is like all facial hair disappears. Brunettes become blondes. Next step is just to make a little cylinder to fit over the lens as a holder for those dark negatives to block out visible light. Paper, cardboard, whatever. Now if I only could get some tips for a free surveillance software that starts capturing video when something moves in the picture... anyone? /L PS. I pointed the cam at the TV which was on. Through the IR filter the screen was totally blank, black as if it was off. This is definitely another world that needs to be explored. Extremely interesting! |

Leopold User ID: 148522 United States 04/05/2007 02:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Concerning the type of webcam I reviewed earlier, the technical performance in low light conditions is spectacular thanks to the IR illumination and the great sensitivity to IR. You have an invisible spotlight in your face. That is, it is appreciated if you can accept the fact that your hair looks grey, and dark colours generally become shades of light grey. If you want a preview of how you will look like when retired look no further! Very interesting effects with this cam. Still too lazy to make that visible light blocker, though. Maybe tomorrow. TvTech3, I couldn't make that software record on motion only. We have to keep looking for suitable products. Imagine the possibilities... I was thinking of trying to see if there are interesting stuff that goes on when I'm journeying, dreaming lucid dreams etc. This prospect of having possibilities to see and record things that are invisible to the naked eye certainly begs to be explored to the fullest extent. /L |
