I've always had a nagging feeling that all the chemicals and enzymes and crap they put in our food now, is intended to make us more nutritionally complete for whatever Things they plan feeding us to, after we're in the camps... like stockyard cattle.

or kill us.. cull down the population - but we already know they're doing that.

I have started growing my own food this year

thanks for this info
 Quoting: ^TrInItY^

Trinity- we grow a LOT of our own food here too.
We just put in sweet corn, early tomatoes (which we lost to the freeze and will have to replant), but the broccoli, cabbage, brussels sprouts and lettuce are doing good. Next in will be the green beans and squash. Then come the feeder hogs and a this year, a calf! When the early crops are tilled, the purple hull peas and black eyed peas go in. Then in the fall- when it's deer season (hubby took 20 last year), the steaks, stews, etc. are mostly deer, not bovine. Between using the prime cuts for us, making jerky, etc.- we still gave a LOT away, and fed the dogs much of it too.
We put a lot of money and effort into it- it would be cheaper to buy from the grocery store.
But I am much more comfortable knowing where my food came from- my fields. I know what my animals ate. We're not perfectly sustainable, I still buy groceries, but the less crap that my husband and his daughter eat, the better I feel about it.
And with growing some of your own food, you'll find a certain Zen-like experience being close to the land. Definitely worth the hard work on many, many levels. Good luck with it!

I was just out shopping and got to talking to a couple about the pet food recall. Her daughter's dog is in serious condition at the vet hospital with liver damage. The dog was eating dry Nutro that has the corn gluten in it. I hadn't realized the "corn" was bad too. Her little friend is in really poor condition. How can they say it could be in the wet food and not the dry when they buy this crap in quanities from their sources and I'm sure use it for both wet and dry...from the same batch. This isn't going away anytime soon. I wish people would stop buying the commercial food and get a high quality all natural food without the wheat, corn and meat by products. And all the other garbage they put in commercial pet food. Thanks for the post.

I have an ill cat that is (was) eating a commercial cat food with corn gluten listed.....the cat is definitely sick, and as soon as she re-appears (she never has done this) I'm going to take her to the vet...

I suspects that it could also be in the corn gluten as well...I'm afraid to mention the brand, but it is considered a premium brand.....

This is a big read, so ill just cut and paste a few pointers from it to show the general gist of the article.

ALL TEXT THAT FOLLOWS IS FROM THE ABOVE LINK.

In a cooler and therefore hungrier world, the US's near-monopoly position as a food exporter ... could give the US a measure of power that it had never had before ... -- CIA

One wonders, in fact, if those who contribute to keeping these masses hungry do not know exactly what they are doing, since famished, lethargic, diseased people are notoriously bad at overthrowing anybody. -- Susan George

One of the ironies of this issue is the contrast between the enthusiasm of food producers to claim that their biologically engineered products are different and unique when they seek to patent them and their similar enthusiasm for claiming that they are just the same as other foods when asked to label them. -- Julian Edwards, director of Consumers International

My worry is that other advances in science may result in other means of mass destruction, maybe more readily available even than nuclear weapons. Genetic engineering is quite a possible area, because of these dreadful developments that are taking place there. -- Joseph Rotblat, Nobel Prize Laureate

In 1995, Monsanto were ranked fifth in the EPA Toxic Release Inventory. In the UK they face criminal prosecution for their failure to comply with regulations governing trial plots of GM-crops.

#######and now this little gem to round it off and let you read the article yourselves########

The US has threatened New Zealand with trade sanctions were it to bar genetically modified organisms and materials. The fear was that NZ would establish a precedent that Europe would follow.

heidi - there is still time for small people to really start doing some seriouse seed storage.

The small people CAN fight back, totaly. All they need to do is club together - I feel that the near future is going to be about humans living on collectives for a common good, not this me me me shit thats dividing us at the minute.

I won't stand for it, either, but what can we do? Yes, collectives are a great idea...but where do we find the people? Most just don't give a damn. I agree totally with what you are saying, 100%, I'm just very cynical unfortunately.

This will make you feel even worse then...read this little snippet and i'll get the link...

######### v-GURTS, called terminator technology. Developed by the US Department of Agriculture and the Delta Pine and Land Co, it makes seeds sterile so they cannot be cropped and resown. Before they are sold, seeds are treated with a compound which activates a gene introduced into the plant from bacteria. The gene allows the crop to be grown normally, but takes charge just as it becomes ready for harvesting and stops its seeds from manufacturing any of the protein it needs for germination.

t-GURTS, dubbed traitor technology. These are linked to a particular trait of a plant such as good growth , germination and other desirable characteristics. The genes governing these can be activated only when the plant is sprayed with a proprietory chemical, which is sold separately. Big biotech companies want to make the plants dependent on their own chemicals so they can make profits by selling first the seed, then the chemical needed to make it work properly.

Re: Monsanto's GM corn MON863 shows kidney, liver toxicity in animal studiesQuote

Yeah Heidi i have info on that - wait one and ill dig it up for you.

##########################################################

Just before announcing his departure from Iraq and handing "power" to the
U.S.-installed band of discredited quislings (the so-called "transfer of
[fake] sovereignty"), U.S. proconsul and head of the Coalition Provisional
Authority (CPA), Paul Bremer issued "100 Orders" to transfer Iraq's economy
and legal ownership of Iraqi resources into the private hands of U.S.
corporations. Then, to encourage the looting of Iraq's wealth and increase
the suffering of the Iraqi people, the Bush administration issued an
"executive order" to indemnify not only the corporate looters from
prosecution, but also provides protection to soldiers and private security
guards committing crimes against Iraqis. A closer examination of these "100
Orders" and U.S. policy in Iraq shows that the war on Iraq had nothing to do
with WMD, terrorism, "democracy" and "liberation," but to colonise Iraq and
enrich U.S. corporations at the expense of the Iraqi people.

Order 81 deals specifically with Plant Variety Protection (PVP) because it
is designed to protect the commercial interests of corporate seed companies.
Its aim is to force Iraqi farmers to plant so-called "protected" crop
varieties 'defined as new, distinct uniform and stable', and most likely
genetically modified. This means Iraqi farmers will have one choice; to buy
PVP registered seeds. Order 81 opens the way for patenting (ownership) of
plant forms, and facilitates the introduction of genetically modified crops
or organisms (GMOs) to Iraq. U.S. agricultural biotechnology corporations,
such as Monsanto and Syngenta will be the beneficiaries. [4] Iraqi farmers
will be forced to buy their seeds from these corporations. GMOs will replace
the old tradition of breeding closely related plants, and replace them with
organisms composed of DNA from an altogether different species, e.g.,
bacterium genes into corn. In the long run, there won't be a big enough gene
pool for genetic viability.
###########################################

and this .......

##########################################

Farmers will also be required to buy fertilisers, herbicides and
insecticides, against plants disease. Iraqi farmers will be required to pay
royalties for the new seeds and they will be forbidden from saving seeds. In
other words, Iraqi farmers will become agricultural producers for export, a
recipe for the introduction of hunger in Iraq, not unknown in many
developing countries. Unless an independent sovereign Iraqi government
repeals these edicts, they will override Iraq's original patent law of 1970,
which, in accordance with the Iraqi constitution, prohibited private
ownership of biological resources.

#####################################################

Big business sure as hell is raping the soul out of Iraq. No wonder when you read stuff like this that the Jihad is so well supported. Their oil, thier gold, their food, their children - enoughs enough, so they fought back and are hitting the US hard - If I was starving, watching my family die a slow death of starvation, I would join too.

I feel for you Heidi, as here in the UK its alot different. When GM food came about, a whole supermarket chain decided that ALL of its food would be GM free - Their profits rose sharply when 'frankenstein foods' first came out onto the market, and they have been gaining a larger slice each year of the market.

So at least some of the sheeple are awakening, but not nearly enough world wide.

India, Iraq, Africa, all the worlds poorest are being foisted with this GM crap, and you know what makes me wonder ? where are green peace, where are friends of the earth, where are Oxfam, where are medicines sans frontiers ? I see no protests from them, I see no concern for the worlds poorest.......

Africans recognize these drawbacks and that's why American efforts to promote genetically modified crops have backfired. The initiative to introduce genetically modified corn to Zambia through American food aid donations in 2002 clearly did not work out the way the administration had hoped. The Zambians were vocal in their refusal. And the move brought simmering global tensions over biotechnology to a boil at last summer's global environmental summit meeting in Johannesburg and raised questions about American motives, priorities and understanding of the roots of hunger. Despite a full-court press by the Bush administration and some members of Congress, the Zambians have stood by their decision to reject such food aid.
