I just opened up Stellarium and walked outside with a compass. On the program, the sun is sitting right over the EAST mark. According to my compass, the sun is to the LEFT of EAST... a little towards the NORTH........ it is noticeable! |

Supposed to rise right through the middle of Cetus (according to Stellarium). To me, it seems like it went right through the middle of Aries and Cetus. Just my estimate, all I have is a compass and a program :) |

on 04-11 the sun rose in the east and set in the northwest
very odd happenings with the sun.
it is larger,brighter,and white hot looking.
remember when it was a soft yellow!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok. I have never posted here, but after reading this I thought I would. My son woke this morning from a dream. He said it was the most real-like dream he'd ever had. He said he had some friends over and they were out at night to play some paintball. He looked up at the sky and noticed there were 2 moons. Commented to his friends about it. Looked around the whole sky and saw there were actually 9 moons. Him and his friends were just looking at these moons, not knowing what to think, when he said all of a sudden there was a grwoing bright light, which got brighter and filled the sky as if part of the sun had exploded <his words. He and his friends dropped to the ground, covered the heads, and then he woke up.
Thought I would share, since I realized what moons could mean, and I believe sometimes dreams can be prophetic. Not saying his is. Just wierd, though. |

for the sun to rise in the wrong place then either the sun has moved (which would create a shitload of problems here on earth) or the earths rotation slowed down and speeded up again to reach the correct point as it is now (just remember that the sun was in the correct place in the sky to everyone else on earth whos day had already started but if it wasnt then in that case that would cause a few problems too)
so either one or both of those totally improbable things happened are you are just wrong

The sun rises and sets at about 12 degrees north of East and West respectively at about 40 degrees Latitude.
The Sun looks whiter to me too but I am not sure if this is really the case of if this is an artifact of my memory and/or perception. |

Use a compass, adjust for true North in your area, and compare where the sun is to where it should be. Then we can learn something.
If you need help to know where the sun is suposed to rise or set, ask and I will run it on an old (9 years old)astronomy program that is not hooked up to the internet.
The article with the Eskimo's observations was interesting to me because they are more likely to know where the sun should rise and set than the average Jo or Joanna. |

The eskimo problem was due to an optical illusion, perhaps you are experience some sort of the same thing. But seriously if the sun or the earth moved enough out of alignment for you to notice, then we would be having an end of days experience and not even be talking about this on an internet forum, it would readily be apparent. |
