Chinese junk selling company Alibaba puts QUANTUM COMPUTER in the "cloud"

so what can people do with a cloudy quantum computer???? prediction: there is a global market for maybe five of these things!!!!

"Alibaba reckons the world needs another quantum computer in the cloud, so it's opened up access to an 11-qubit system.

The system landed almost exactly a year after IBM announced its five-qubit quantum offering. In November last year, Big Blue embiggened the system to 20 qubits.

So as well as being the second cloudy quantum computer on the market, Alibaba's offering is also the second-fastest, as the company correctly claimed in its announcement.

The Alibaba offering is a collaboration with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and is cooled to as low as 10 milli-Kelvin (-273° C).

Alibaba's announcement did not, however, detail the tools or APIs customers will use to interact with the system.

Alibaba is developing "Sesame Credit". They need the processing power to rate, manage and manipulate one billion people, then seven billion people. Check this out...

You clearly have never actually used AliBaba. It is unique in that -in most cases- you are buying directly from the manufacturers and not middle-men. And competitition is stiff, especially in the Asian electronics market. This means incredibly lower prices [particularly when buying multple units of a single item] and some of the best customer-service in the world. You will also find many products that are simply not available from domestic sources!

When I equipped my first home theater, I bought digital video projectors that were not sold in the U.S. [big box stores froze them out of the American marketplace] at a fraction of what they would've cost even IF they were available at the Best Buy down the street! Shipped from mainland China via express post, they arrived in a blazing 7 days and perfectly packed. Their Customer service also e-mailed me repeaedly to make sure I was satisfied with my purchase and offered full post-purchase support. And all of this WITHOUT begging for a positive rating that Ebay sellers always demand.
