The moon's distance from earth is not constant, its orbit is eliptical. Also with the titling of the earth on its axes and its wobble through space (yes it wobbles but its 100% predictable), the moon will seem closer then further each time. Quote ------------- Wait a minute. Didn't they teach us in school that the same side of the Moon always faces Earth? That's only approximately true. Because the Moon's orbit is slightly elliptical (5%) and slightly tilted (5o), we view each month's full Moon from a slightly different distance and angle. The rocking motions are called libration; because of them we can observe not just 50% but rather 59% of the Moon's surface. -------------- Remember theres the anamella of both the moon and the sun, and each full moon is 28 days apart, but those were taken only on clear nights, so I am sure he had to miss 1 or more full moons.
