"And how we burned in the camps later, thinking:
"And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say goodbye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling in terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand. The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst; the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!"

Conditioning.

Stockholm Syndrome.

BTW, anyone know why you can't get a copy of A.S.'s latest book in English?

If you knew what it was about, the answer would come to you in an instant.

Look at the Communist Revolutions of China and one can ask the same questions and make the same statemetents taht Solzhenitsyn makes in the quote above, ask the same and comment the same about those people in China that were victims, and went to the camps and/or to their deaths there in China. No, Nazi Germany wasn't the only place those like the "Gestopo" stalked the night and day, the one o'clock in the morning knock on the door. Neighbors being dragged away not to be seen again if ever. It happens in all nations that become militant Socialist/Fascist, both of the Nation or the International variety.

Thankyou, EyesWildOpen for posting this quote, I was just thinking of what Solzehnitsyn and what he wrote about when I stumbled across this thread.

EyesWideOpen, if you feel "W" is just like Stalin, then what do you plan to do about it. What can you suggest for the American people to do, to not be "passive to power"?
