make your own toothpaste

I use Celtic Sea Salt soap that has peppermint in it. Since this salt orginally comes from northern coast of France, it should be easy to buy.

There is a Japanese toothpaste that is high in minerals. They claim it rebuilds enamel and cost $10.00/tube. You will have to google.

I use Seasalt in a glas of water!
Dip your tothbrush in the glas and brush away...

This is good for your teeth and gum and all so for your breath due to the fact that the smelly bacteria doesn´t like to live in a salty envirorment.

Don´t overdo the brushing though, the body does take up salt from the mouth eaven if you don´t swallow it.

you know, there are people that are in fact allergic to fluorides. Just go to a drugstore (pharmacy) and ask for a fluoride free toothpaste

BlanX - contains no fluoride...

BlanX® BioRepairTM Total Protection Toothpaste contains bio-active nano-crystals - tiny particles, similar in structure to natural tooth enamel.

These tiny particles can penetrate into the smallest cracks and flaws in teeth, where they dissolve and bind into the structure of the enamel and dentine, effectively repairing the tooth.

BlanX® BioRepairTM Total Protection Toothpaste prevents plaque and tartar from forming, helps keep breath fresh, and is also effective against sensitivity.

Re: Toothpaste without Fluoride to Re-enamel Teeth
All I know is after about a year now of 'oil pulling' I'm getting all sorts of comments on 'how white my teeth are' and 'what do you do ?'..

And a couple of years ago I remember using all sorts of products in attempts to whiten my teeth.. ie: crest white strips, ect...

I would use my kids as the benchmark.. Brutally honest ! After buying whatever and bringing it home and applying it then checking them out in the mirror... I remember thinking to myself.. hmmm they kinda do look a little whiter only to go ask my kids... Hey, what color are my teeth ? Then every darn one of them tell me... There still yellow dad !!

Not any more. They all say white now. Haven't been to a dentist in over 20 years, brush my teeth 2 or 3 times a week oil pull daily !

Cheers

Yes, It's True it's been known for years that it is possible to re-harden weakened tooth enamel - Enamelon used to be sold in the US and it worked, there are studies that confirm it - look it up!
Here's a patent you can find with an easy google search.
I hope some day these type of products will be easy to find in the open market;

Dental enamel recalcification accelerator and containing the same, oral composition and food or beverage
USPTO Application #: 20090092565
Title: Dental enamel recalcification accelerator and containing the same, oral composition and food or beverage
Abstract: A dental enamel recalcification accelerator that even when used in oral compositions and food or beverage, poses no safety problem, and that is capable of effectively promoting the recalcification of decalcified dental enamel to thereby positively suppress any dental caries; and containing the same, an oral composition and food or beverage. There is provided a dental enamel recalcification accelerator comprising anhydrogalactose-containing red algae and/or an extract thereof as an active ingredient. Further, there are provided an oral composition and food or beverage comprising the dental enamel recalcification accelerator. (end of abstract)

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 420818

True, once enamel is gone the teeth are down to dentin, and will probably soon decay unless hygiene is excellent. But enamel can be re-mineralized by a variety of different methods. The old school one was stannous fluoride, but several strategies are emerging that may be effective.

Dr. Peterson talks about rat fish oil to prevent tooth decay ! He said wheat germ oil had some of the antioxidant contained in the rat fish oil ! I have been trying the wheat germ oil while brushing and find several pluses to it !

Vademecum brand toothpaste from Sweden makes a fluoride free version that I used for years until I couldn't get it again in Minneapolis (although Ingebretson's on Lake Street probably has it).

I use Tom's natural "sensitive". If I do not use a sensitive toothpaste, my teeth start to get very painful. For people with that have teeth that have been worn down and nerves exposed.

Re: Toothpaste without Fluoride to Re-enamel Teeth
I've been using Ecodent tooth-powder for over a year now and it's fantastic. The problem is I can't get it anywhere in Europe and the postage from America is pretty expensive.

Can anyone recommend a really good toothpaste I can buy in Europe that contains no fluoride, glycerin or other nasties, AND which helps to re-enamel your teeth?

Thanks, in advance!

Re: Toothpaste without Fluoride to Re-enamel Teeth
I had gum line cavities for years due to flouride experimentation with the water till they found a safe level that would not cause everyone to drop dead at once.

When I decided to eleminate fouride from my diet completely I started using xyliwhite toothpaste and stopped having cavities completely and the white spots on my teeth disappeared. I think the white spots were from fouride, because my dentist asked me where I was raised.
The key ingredient is xylitol - but they can't make the health claim that it will rebuild your enamel. I searched it out and found the claim in one article. It is made in the USA and it works

I don't know about Eco-Dent having better ingredients... I don't even know what some of the ingredients are. If I can't pronounce it, I stay away from it.

ToothSoap has all natural, organic ingredients. No preservatives, no artificial flavoring or coloring. Absolutely no MSG. It is pure soap made from SAPONIFIED coconut and olive oil. Most of all it does not contain glycerin, which coats the teeth. BTW, honey is a natural antibacterial and promotes healing. It is not sugar, but a whole food. Not all the flavors contain honey anyway.

I love it. In my opinion I think it is the best way to go if you are looking to stay away from floride.
