Yea, saw that. Thanks. In those colors it must have been
part of a demonstration team. "Even the “pussy cat” icon you proudly display has obvious sexual overtones,
in the since it is mocking the valued emotional need you have been deprived
of, since childhood."

 | | Re: Apollo 20 - secret mission ? | Quote | In other words, Boris, you still can't support the claim of a manned lunar mission using a Saturn V booster launching from Australia.
Oh yes, where is the liquid Oxygen production facility? Where is the liquid Hydrogen facility?
There is a LOT more to launching a Saturn V than just the booster. non sufficit Orbis

"the township has only been open to the public since 1982"
Security is still a bit tight and NASA left there 1972.
I never said they whet to the moon from there either, i just said they could launch rockets to space without people seeing them.
but to quote u
"That alone blows the mythical lunar mission from Australia into a cocked hat.
You see, the basic physics say that the payload to orbit is profoundly sensitive to the launch latitude. The Saturn V was designed to be launched from a point no further than 28.5 degrees north or south of the equator. Woomera, being at 31 degrees south means that even the saturn V would not have the delta v to do a lunar mission with an Apollo spacecraft.
Mass constraints on the later Apollo missions were so tight that even such things as the number of bandages ib the medical kit was a factor.
This is basic astrodynamics, but the bunkers, not being terribly aware of astrodynamics, ignore physics to try to make a good myth.
So, by another line of reasoning, this mission is bogus, utter bunk, a hoax. And not even a very good hoax at that"
Do you know believe it was possible to launch from woomera?
or are you going to have another rant at me? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 234356

Funny they dont even mention the Nuclear tests done there.
but u have all the answers and seem to know everything.
Wonder why it was in the top ten USSR targets, i wonder why it was only open to the pubic (the township that is)from 1982.
Have you looked at the whole thread?
But i guess seeing as you still cant go on the range yet they have told the public everything that happened there.
Guessing you also know of everything that was every tested at Area 51 too.
Guessing you judge a book by its cover and the government never lies too.
But hey i bet you didnt even know about Woomera until today. |

If you can't support the vehicle, you can't launch it.

 | | Re: Apollo 20 - secret mission ? | Quote | Yes, quite a bit actually. Sadly the British space program, once full of hope did a few launches from Woomera, but sadly never really caught the governmental or public imagination. The British Interplanetary Society did a very good book on the place a few years ago,
In addition the US had a tracking station there for both Apollo and deep space work, and of course the NSA station at Pine Gap is not far away.
I have been wirking the space game as an engineer for my entire adult life. Woomera was well known to US space professionals since the 1950s. non sufficit Orbis

31 degrees South, huh?

do you still stand by this i.e too far south. Because as you said you have known about it since the 50's but as pointed out by me it is well in you 28.5 degrees south range. |

it did bring down the government, 2 infact.Whitlam and Harold E. Holt. Harold disappeared but they named a base after him. Have you heard of it?

Except no one has shown 1) the launch pad for a saturn V, 2) the VAB needed to assemble it, 3) the liguid hydrogen facility for fueling, 4) the liquid oxygen plant and finally, 5) the fact a Saturn V could not do a lunar mission when launched from that latitude.

funny i thought we had covered the latitude point.
The link to the launch pad i gave early was with in your range. Not sure about the rest but NASA finished there in 1972, thats 35 years ago.

i know this photo is not a saturn rocket but what are the two big tube like things to the left of the launch pad?
could they be storage tanks brought up to fuel the rocket in the photo? |
