Realistically Speaking: What would the MOST POSSIBLE solar flare can do the equipments in the orbit and here on earth?

Are you asking, "What is the strongest possible solar flare that the man made equiptment in orbit can withstand and not be taken out of commission?"

a mid level X *if* earth directed could do a lot of damage.
the smaller stuff, I don't think so.

OK, let me rephrase the question in 2 questions:

First, what is the MOST POSSIBLE solar flare that could occur on our sun that would be headed towards earth? maybe a an "X 55".

Second question, if the most possible solar flare was "X 55", then what is it cabable of doing to electronic equipments here on earth? (I mean what kind of damage would it do the equipments).

Third, there is no third.

i used to work for a cable company in which we were fully aware of the lost of signals caused from solar flares.

Blackouts.. no electricity dude. Major flares and electromagnetic storms will shut it all down, worldwide power failure, no nothing!! Stoneages again. Poleshift possible in worse case scenario, life as we know it stops dead.

What about after, could you just turn on a solar cell with battery & inverter after and have everything work?

Go to space weather.com and learn. Go everyday until you understand it then you will know that the worst thing it can do is take down the power grids for a long time. Years in fact and send us back to the stone age. Ever been Camping? Then you would get the picture.
