Down In New Orleans
Just got back from N'Awlins and the gulf coast is still a wreck. Really sad seeing the destruction. I was reading the "MOM, WE'RE OK"s painted on the sides of buildings in Gulfport and Biloxi, which turned to simply "HELP" as I got closer to NOLA. Heck, it flooded bad when I was down there. Any of you GLP folks living in the houses that still have FEMA tarp on them? It's like we who live everywhere else have kinda gone on and it's not newsworthy anymore, but on their news, it's an everyday thing. Hope y'all Gulf Coast folks are doing okay. Happy Friday, all.

Re: Down In New Orleans
Just read the Katrina Thread re: Toxic exposure. Very scary. I came back early because I got sick - like a bad ear infection with heavy cough. Now I noticed a lot of men riding bicycles with backpacks (no, not Mormons) around where I was on the West Bank, but all the construction was being done by hispanos. What's wrong with this picture? Anyway, there was a heavy feeling of desperation I sensed. Especially, when I was leaving and going through Mississippi and reading billboards almost begging the people to come back.

Re: Down In New Orleans
once again the media seems to be ignoring this issue, I had been wondering what was happening there....the last thing I had heard was that casinos were taking the best waterfront land for themselves....

what is the point of building up the tourist industry when there are no people to service it.....
so this is it!!!!!!
