I don't know either.

What butter? room temp?

What sugar/sweeteners?

Have you used whole grains?

Re: seeking a soft/chewy cookie recipe
not really, but if you were to add a bit more butter and don't overbake them, it'll usually be a bit more chewy.

Re: seeking a soft/chewy cookie recipe
All white sugar makes crispier cookies so use half light brown sugar.

Shortening makes softer cookies that puff up and taste great.

You might not like the thought of Crisco in your cookies, but you will love the taste. Better than butter.

You can get sticks of refrigerated shortening next to the butter in most grocery stores.

Bless You!

I am trying to get away from all the processed/poisoned goodies in the pre-fab sections of the grocery stores.

My family are tough critics as they are used to the perfection of the added preservatives.

Re: seeking a soft/chewy cookie recipe
Some people use half butter and half shortening. They don't rise quite as high and are not quite as chewey, but are very soft.
