Emergy Crises: no ingenuity no Superpower
Quote

What? Oil Problems? Wells running dry?

Iceland converting now to hydrogen power and production will be the new Saudi Arabia.

The Arab states will go back to camel poop power.

America who seems to have lost its ingenuity will become Northern Mexico and run its jalopies on refried beans.

Folks say, NO FAIR, after all Iceland has all that thermal to make the hydrogen.

Well I live in Washington State surrounded by freakin volcanoes.

What about Yellowstone mother of all.

Hydrogen plants are tidy lil installations, not like smoke-belching refineries.

We could put the plants in the border towns around Yellowstone. After all no intelligent life lives in those towns anyways.

Or in Tacoma at the foot of Rainier, no intelligent life lives in Tacoma either.

Or by god we could all take Ginkgo biloba tablets to restore Yankee ingenuity and then make onboard hydrogen generators for our bubba pickem-up trucks.

Alas our Current Commander in Chief Baboon just canceled funding for our geothermal research programs.

huh?

"Reuters quoted Christina Kielich, a spokeswoman for the Department of Energy, as saying. "Geothermal is a mature technology. Our focus is on breakthrough energy research and development."

then why isn't it in use?

probably would cost less than war eventually.

probably for the same reason hemp is illegal to harvest for building all the things that petroleum corps are now getting rich for making...'cept hemp would be more ecology friendly...and cheaper.

"Geothermal accounts for 0.36 percent of electricity generation in the United States (2006 figure), most of which occurs in California. Presently the United States is the world's largest producer of geothermal energy.

Last year, the DOE requested no funding for geothermal for the 2007 fiscal year. Funding has been averaging around $26 million for the prior three years, according to Reuters."

world's largest producer...yet oil is the most used.
sad.

Re: Emergy Crises: no ingenuity no SuperpowerQuote

Ever since the good old 60's (sniff), I have dreamed of some form of energy independence. Unlikely these days as I don't even have a regular job. But every now and then, I check the internet to see what sort of technology is available for independent, source power production. What exists these days is quite amazing, off the shelf. Yes, it will cost you a few bucks but just about anyone who wants to can become energy independent or close to it. If you have sunlight, wind or maybe falling water, you can produce power on site. The more of a DIYer you are, the cheaper it will be. Some have restrictions in the form of building codes but everybody can do something. And I am not even talking about reducing your quality of life. Look into it. Check out information on the 'net or even at your local library. There is lots you can do. It will cost you time and money. Question is, how much is it worth to you?

Good Point! Through willful arrogance, the US will be relegated to what used to be by becoming a follower instead of a leader. We are inundated with Pretend leaders that know NOTHING of leadership.
