Eat only your soup and the fruit for the first day. For drinks- unsweetened teas, cranberry juice and water. Then be prepared to get no sleep as you crap your brains out. Day Two: Quoting: Anonymous Coward 216865Vegetables: Eat until you are stuffed will all fresh, raw or cooked vegetables of your choice. Try to eat leafy green vegetables and stay away from dry beans, peas and corn. Eat all the vegetables you want along with your soup. At dinner, reward yourself with a big baked potato with butter. Do not eat fruit today. Another sleepless night of crapping your brains out. Day Three: Quoting: Anonymous Coward 216865Mix Days One and Two: Eat all the soup, fruits and vegetables you want. No Baked Potato. You'll sleep tonight. You'll fall off the toilet sound asleep, then have to clean up the brains you crapped all over the bathroom floor. Day Four: Quoting: Anonymous Coward 216865Bananas and Skim Milk: Eat as many as eight bananas and drink as many glasses of skim milk as you would like on this day, along with your soup. This day is supposed to lessen your desire for sweets. Ah. Here's where we catch up on the sleep. Eat the bananas to bring on constipation. Unless you're lactose-intolerant, then you'll be up all night.... you get the picture. Day Five: Quoting: Anonymous Coward 216865Beef And Tomatos: Ten to twenty ounces of beef and up to six fresh tomtoes. Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water this day to wash the uric acid from your body. Eat your soup at least once this day. You may eat broiled or baked chicken instead of beef (but absolutely no skin-on chicken). If you prefer, you can substitute broiled fish for the beef one one of the beef days (but not both). Now that you've eliminated all the beneficial flora from your intestines, let's add some beef to the diet. Hope you're not married - your gas is gonna be explosive! Day Six: Quoting: Anonymous Coward 216865Beef and Vegetables: Eat to your heart's content of beef and vegetables this day. You can even have 2 or 3 steaks if you like, with leafy green vegetables. No Baked Potato. Eat your soup at least once. Cool. Binge & purge. Day Seven: Quoting: Anonymous Coward 216865Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juices and vegetables: Again stuff, stuff, stuff yourself. Be sure to eat your soup at least once this day. More binge & purge. Just like the Hollywood "godesses". Day 8: WXYZ news reports that Mr. Sillyhead has been admitted to the hospital with renal failure, severe gastrointestinal distress, and a blood sugar level so high that honeybees were feeding on his earwax. Friends suggest that Sillyhead was following diet advice posted on a website called godlikeproductions....... "Uhhhhhh......" Barack Obama |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 201927Unfortunately, yes, that is true. The cabbage soup diet does work, but the minute you are off it, you gain back every lb lost and then some. I used to do this diet all the time. My friends were finally like, get off it, you hate it, and it only works for 7 days. Unless you have an event where you have an outfit you are trying to fit into, it's worthless. My dad actually gave me this diet back in 1980. It's been around the world and then some. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 569315 United States 01/19/2009 01:40 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You can use the V8 Juice, but the whole idea is to have the whole thing be as natural as possible. V8 has sodium in it, and it wont work, because salt makes you bloat. My friends and I got to a point where we'd blend it in the blender after cooking it, just to mix it up. We really did do it too many times, and got to a point where we were sick of it, and would just try to make it different without altering the original recipe. |

Again, adding the V8 juice, the boulion cube, mushrooms, are all added new versions as the soup diet has gone around the world. For me back in the day, it was carrots, but not a lot, and green beans as optional. Lipton soup mix and the others were not added. We added tumeric, cummin, and pepper and hot sauce if desired. If you add anything with salt you will not lose the up to 10-17 lbs. This diet was originally from a doctor for heart patients who needed to lose lbs before surgery. But if done correctly, you should lose 5-7lbs by day 3 and 10-17lbs. by day 7 if you have not cheated. Again it has been alterered throughout the years, making it 7-10lbs now. |

It's okay if you want to shed a few pounds, but I wouldn't recommend it for long term weight loss. If you go back to your original eating habits once you've finished the diet, you're going to gain it all back...possibly even more. A change in lifestyle is the best way to lose weight and keep it off. |

We're getting a new elliptical and I plan on doing this diet the first week with lots of unsweetened green tea and water. I only need to shed 15-20 lbs so if I lose eight to ten the first week I'll be stoked. |
