Does cooking with a microwave really harm your body more than oven or stove cooking? | |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2529But interesting you actually DID the experiment. Actually, using distilled water makes more sense, because by doing so, you've eliminated one more variable. Wife NOT giving you any, old Fart ? Quoting: Dr. P ( On U ! ) 258957ADDING information concerning the ORIGIN of a product/custom/USE does NOT detract from the topic. Go back to putting your head up your rear. It's nice and warm there, with no sound or distractions, other than the SMELL, JUST LIKE your posts ! There are now three posters who believe that this kind of approach is actually contributing to a discussion of the pros and cons of microwaves. To the rest of the posters who are anti-microwave in their opinions: do you consider this kind of post typical of you and those who hold the same views you do? Do you think it helps get your point across? Just curious. Where's the EVIDENCE, Jim? |
Duncan Kunz User ID: 8107 United States 07/02/2007 02:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Some info on microwaves and health Quoting: Astraveller 260361[link to www.relfe.com] and a plug for Stephanie Relfe,s excellent site [link to www.relfe.com] I notice that Ms. Relfe did the same cut-and-paste as some of the other sites did. She used the Oklahoma case (which was debunked yesterday -- see my post on this same thread earlier, which said: That myth has been cropping up for the past 15 years now, and you can tell it's all from the same place because all the words are the same. The only problem is that it's just not true. There was a trial, but the jury found that the patient was killed by a blood clot, which has nothing whatsoever to do with the blood being heated in a microwave. Here's the details of the case, in case you're interested: [link to wyomcases.courts.state.wy.us] Now I don't have a clue who this Relfe person is, but the fact that she just copied an urban myth out of a bunch of other sites (and copied it word for word without even thinking to check it) when just a few minutes worth of boolean searching could have told her that it was wrong tells me she's a pretty incompetent researcher. babyruth (OP) User ID: 254040 United States 07/04/2007 02:54 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Do you think the original poster and all the other anti-microwave people are paid by the charcoal grill and the crock-pot industries? Quoting: Duncan KunzI am the original poster. I am not an anti-microwave person. I have used a microwave for the past 20 years. Mine just broke down and I have been debating whether to buy a new one or not. I sure am missing the convenience of it. My kids are having to adjust, that's for sure. We don't eat the pre-packaged microwave foods much, but just mostly use it for warming left-overs and thawing butter and the likes. I haven't cooked in anything but glass for years, and am interested in what everyone here has to say on the matter. That's why I asked. I have some reading to do based on the information given so far here on GLP. |

After re-reading your original post I realized that you were truly looking for answers backed by data and research. I hope that some of my subsequent responses and links (by the way, it was I who posted the Wyoming case; I'd forgotten to log on) will help you make an informed decision. regards, Duncan Where's the EVIDENCE, Jim? |
